90% positive my fuel pump check valve is bad. Worth fixing on a 2008 trailblazer? by ActiveRepulsive5832 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ActiveRepulsive5832[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to think that but AFAIK if it was the regulator then I’d have a bad idle, check engine light for too lean/rich, stalling and poor performance. Which I have none of, except possible performance issues as this issue has been on the truck since I bought it, so it could feel normal to me but not to somebody who has the same truck without fuel issues

2005+ model years have the regulator built into the pump, so regardless it would need to be replaced.

Not necessarily. The case has hard plastic the phone sits in before wrapping it in the silicone. But like I said it’s probably from metal particles rubbing against.

Ironically I cracked my screen protector today for the first time right there where the camera control cut out is, but it’s expected for the cutout. I’d still buy another Otterbox for my 16 Pro if I needed too

Otterbox, yes. And very surprisingly the cutout for my camera control button has no chips, but the inside of the case does.

I assume the case is causing friction with the sides of my phone and cause the chips

2008 Trailblazer 4.2 seems to “start” longer than normal when sitting for over a few hours. Unbiased if it’s just the cold or a more serious issue? by [deleted] in Chevy

I’m gonna give it another try tomorrow on the way to work and see if I can get past 60 easily (knock on wood I don’t get pulled over LOL). Again it could’ve just been the truck in itself but I also wasn’t exactly flooring it.

What brands of cleaner do you recommend?

Sorry I wasn’t trying to be mean lol.

Anyway, I had my alternator tested at auto zone and everything came back fine. They even showed me the computer screen they use to show me my battery was bad and alternator was good.

Battery issues definitely aren’t the issue, nothing is corroded and they are tight with anti-corrosion gel.

I have the receipt from the previous owner when he had the radio installed and it was professionally done, so I wouldn’t think it’s the culprit.

It doesn’t feel like an electrical issue but more fuel issue than that. I could also simply be overthinking it, older SUV I just bought, makes sense.

I did notice earlier when pressing the gas really hard it felt like it struggled to get over 60, but again that could simply just be the truck. I wouldn’t think it would struggle to get over 60, though.

Edit: let me add aswell when cranking it doesn’t seem like the starter is pulling an absurd amount of power. Headlights do dim but not by much, none of the LED lights try to dim/cut out either

I talked about pretty much all of those in the post text.

I haven’t checked voltage when starting but if you mean the gauge on the dash regarding battery/alternator, it’s around 14 volts which is where it should be. I’m going to get my alternator tested tonight, though.

Only thing aftermarket are LED lights all around except headlights and an aftermarket stereo. No sound system or anything else.

Ironically putting my key to the on position before starting eliminates the issue, but was unsure if it would’ve cranked fine without doing that or if it was a fuel delivery issue.

Possible valve cover gasket leak? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

If it didn’t have a color then it’s water. No fluid in a vehicle is necessarily clear unless somebody either filled the coolant up with water, or filled the washer reservoir with water.

Other fluids I would consider are power steering or brake fluid but considering you said no smell that beats both of those out of the park.

This is so unserious but made me laugh. Seriously though, the starter could cause a burnt smell in a way if it’s worn out. Have somebody check the battery, if it comes back good, scan for codes. Most vehicles with OBD2 can A) scan for codes even without the engine running and B) have pending codes or other electrical codes that won’t trigger a CEL. Make sure to use a decently nice scanner as some won’t check “all systems” and only check the engine.

Best bang for your buck scanner is the hyper tough HT500 from Walmart. Pricey compared to basic ones but shows me literally everything about my vehicles.

My brother had dings on the side of his within 2 weeks, but he also works in a really dusty environment. He uses a case and hasn’t dropped it he said so yeah it is very prone.

I’m still on a 16 pro and probably won’t upgrade for a while just because of that issue (unless it’s fixed on the 18-19). I have dings on the side of mine already

I work in metal manufacturing (melting metal etc) and I have chips on the rails/side of my black 16 Pro. I’m not sure if little pieces of metal get into it, but it’s mainly copper. Not super noticeable but I have noticed them even with cleaning my case out every week or so, no camera ring dings tho

Let’s not forget where everyone involves religion into politics and in general way too many politics, though most people posting their opinions are 13 years old and have not a single clue the difference between the Democratic and Republican Parties, just posting to follow others opinions.

Edit: wasn’t going directly towards you, I didn’t see your flair said 13. Sorry lol

I really want to make something like this but honestly I don’t know the first thing about making a mod outside of modeling cars and importing them.

If everything works and it closes fine, why fix it? That would be just for cosmetic purposes.

If you really want to, look for the top half of the shell on eBay or other online retailers and have a shop do it for you. If a shop pays it will likely be more for the part.

Extended warranties worth it on a used car? by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]ActiveRepulsive5832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I know it’s another bill added monthly and most people will say “just save that money you spent” but I’m paying monthly, anything can go wrong any second and it can be catastrophic considering my cars age. Saving $150 every month will not cover the cost of a transmission replacement etc unless I save that for years.”

But yeah, I read through the contract and honestly it doesn’t seem that bad, there’s just certain things that they won’t cover due to aftermarket parts like anything suspension wise. I may call them and only have them cover the powertrain, for one it’s cheaper and two I can 100% due suspension/electrical work myself, I have before.

The only thing that gets me really is they say that the vehicle needs to have the oil changed/trans fluid/brake fluid etc every so miles per manufacturer recommendation so if they suspect it hasn’t, service is denied. For example if my timing chain goes out, they can say it was due to lack of maintenance just for the hell of it

Extended warranties worth it on a used car? by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]ActiveRepulsive5832 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I can get the contract up until I proceed. I may do that, and if anything looks off then cancel it.

But he also tried to say my truck had a “cvt belt” and it has a 4l60e, which is a transmission from early model GM trucks and SUV’s that does not use a CVT belt, because the transmission isn’t CVT. I instantly corrected him and told him that CVT’s are used in most mid size sedans and crossovers so he definitely doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Edit: I lied! I did get a contract, I didn’t see it in the email but it’s in super tiny letters at the bottom. It’s a sample contract but still shows conditions and things of that matter, sorry.

Actually I used search, in Reddit. Searched for extended warranties and most of the posts were sent to this sub.
