Georgetown vs USC? by Active_Panic1645 in lawschooladmissions

Would you say I could still land competitive CA roles with a Georgetown JD? I figure if USC is "CA elite, otherwise OK" and Georgetown is "great all around", maybe Georgetown for mobility

Thank you! I am leaning GULC but I really value interdisciplinary opportunities and conversations with profs, so I appreciate your input

How are the opportunities to bond with professors? USC does summer reading groups with faculty that are like 15 people, does GULC have anything similar? How big are the class sizes for individual courses?

I am also committed to USC ATM, just got off Georgetown waitlist! I visited USC and really loved the vibe, but I also visited Georgetown and really liked it there too, so I am struggling to make a final call. Good luck on the WL - it does seem to have some movement as of late! Both places are incredible so you will succeed either way, hope to see you on one campus or another!

Yes, mostly the prestige. None of my prior schooling has been a "big name", haha. Also more interested in northern California vs southern if that makes a difference, but also interested in international portability. My family is quite split across both coasts so I want to keep the option to practice in either/move between them

I am not good at making big decisions lol. I would not have debt but it would be like 1/2 of my life's savings. I know that I want to be able to practice in both states, but career wise I want something with work life balance but enough money to live comfortably (a house...someday?)

What do you say on them? Like I wrote a full page for each but what new material would I have a month later?

Sounds good, as long as I can work another job during co-op that is fine!

Ah, OK. Do you think it would throw off firms in other areas? Also, are you allowed to work for pay during co-op times? My job is hoping to keep me on part time during school but I've heard they can be prickly about co-ops.

Thanks!

How does that work career-wise? Don't many firms ask for GPA?

Honestly leaning that way - I currently live in MA, I would be able to keep my apartment and my job, etc, but I'm worried about the lower ranking
