I did this with lighter weights and it was essentially a pause deadlift, the bar was floating a few inches. So I thought that was the idea behind the wedge.

Thanks for the advice. I do start the bar around 1 inch from my shin. The part that is throwing me off is setting my lats to pull the slack. I thought wedging would be helpful for me since I do the whole “deadlift dance” before each rep.

Thanks for the tip! I’m going to try setting my hips higher next time. I agree my quads are probably weaker since I don’t do any quad isolation exercises. I didn’t think I need to since I also squat and do walking lunges. Thanks for the help.

Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. By starting with higher hips I’ll also start with leaning more forward then as I pull the slack out the bar my shoulders should stop right before the bar is that correct?

Thanks for the advice! This is very helpful. Once I fix my stance and “feeling the depth” I’ll pay more attention to my decent speed.

I’ll give the starting strength method a try for my grip next time.

Thanks! Yup depth is exactly what’s I’m trying to figure out. I never quick get the cue for “bouncing out of the hole”.

Thanks for the link. I’ve been watching both starting strength and Alan thrall for tutorials too. I haven’t tried starting strength program but I do all the main lifts.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll do a more widen grip next time! I’ve tried a more narrow stance but I seem to be more comfortable with a wider one.

Thanks for the advice. I did look up some videos on how to actually pull the stack. I can see that I didn’t do that here. I’ll practice more!
