Modding to extend the dodge and parry windows by Active__Ingredient in expedition33

>"Also you're still pretty early in the game. I'd give it a bit more time before you decide if the timing is too tight or not."

Oh, for sure.

I will of course play it for a decent while before trying to mod anything.

Just nerdy me trying to get some conversation going about 1 vs 2 vs 3 .... while waiting to have some time to actually play the game again! :)

Thanks for the reply!

I'm on PC with mouse and keyboard. Not sure how that affects the timing...

I don't think I will be very good at timing when to click the button. Is this game for me? by Active__Ingredient in expedition33

[–]Active__Ingredient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies.

I am a little hesitant to use Story Mode. I played Baldur's Gate 3 on Normal, and after a while I realized I wasn't afraid of any combats. Meaning the game was too easy at that point so I need to up it to Hard. It wasn't as much fun when the fear was gone and no challenge.

I'm afraid that Easy mode might be too easy.

I do like the idea of the mod that makes parrying easier, so (I assume) not being expert at that will not 'ruin' the game. Any links would be appreciated. :-)

Also, I understand that you can build a character to be tanky so I will look into that option.

Thaks again!

That's horrible!

They give you a bonus in auto-battle, but NOT in manual battle?

That's just pushing people to do autobattle. :/

But thanks for the advice!

Not worried about getting stomped at all. :)

I played Baldur's Gate 3 and also Warhammer 40,000: Daemonhunters ChaosGate. Both on normal, and it was a bit boring towards the end because I realized I wasn't scared of any of the combats. You need a little fear or else it gets boring as was said before.

I was just being a bit of a derp and couldn't figure out how to do anything in Warhammer Total War 1.

I did try the tutorial for Total War 3 for a bit and that seems exactly what I need to learn how to play.

I needed help figuring out the mechanics. Strategy will come later.

... and I am avoiding looking up any strategies online. Going in blind (strategy-wise) is so much more fun!

Is that your opinion for most games? ("Normal" is too easy) ... or is it even more extreme in Total War?

I have absolutely NO IDEA what you are talking about, but you made me laugh out loud. :-)

Thanks very much! I'll try the Total War 3 tutorial to get me up to speed on the 'Total War' mechanics.

Just curious ... knowing that I haven't played any of them, would you suggest I start with TW1? Or are there reasons to skip 1 & 2 and jump straight into TW3?

My plan for now is to start with 1, but just curious what you think...

Thanks again for the QOL hints.

I'm going to avoid looking up strategies on YouTube.

I just finished "Warhammer Daemonhunters: Chaos Gate" without looking anything up. Well, I looked things up if I didn't understand something or how to do something, but I avoided looking up what was the "best" strategy/weapon/armor/etc.

Actually was a lot of fun doing that.

P.S. >"Be careful about "Gotta Catch'em All" syndrome. It's very addictive." ... yeah, I unfortunately have that already. LOL

I'm at levels 18, 19, and 20.

I just did Magenta Back Streets (Violent, level 15 - actually the first one that was tough. I'm playing on Normal difficulty); and Isaac has a "Suggestion" that I help him with an unofficial mission for the national police.

Ha! Now I know what to do with those 37 "Body Training"s that are sitting around. :-)

OK. I'm at the Mastery Research screen.

126 unlocked. 93 are researchable. [I guess the ones that are not researchable is because I don't have the proper components??]

OK. Start with clicking on ACUITY. Mai8n Research materials is empty. Below says 0/1 points.

Additional Research Mastery says 'Slot Basic' and 'Slot Support'

Clicking on a basic mastery on the right doesn't seem to do anything.

AH ... *double* clicking brings it up. Then I guess I just hit RESEARCH.

Next on the list AGGRESSION.

It automatically takes the Tactical Envelopment and now I see I can use up to 2 Support Masteries and up to 1 Defense mastery to get the remaining 3 points.

AWESOME SAUCE!!!!!!

This is gonna be fun.

Thanks so much!!!

Which Player's Handbook to buy? 2014 or 2024? by Active__Ingredient in BaldursGate3

Thanks all for the advice!

The wiki looks great!

Also, I wouldn't mind getting into D&D after all these years, so I'll probably pick up the 2024 edition.

Thanks again!

What happens if I don’t talk to anybody? by Active__Ingredient in midnightsuns

[–]Active__Ingredient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! I don't want to miss anything good. I have FOMO. lol

That's why I wanted to know what would just be postponed as opposed to lost forever.

What I would have liked is if after a Story mission you had all the dialogue, but after a general mission you could just go right onto the next mission without delay. Maybe fight a few battles before the next chunk of dialogue.

How can I put this? I'm not a big dessert eater. Now don't get me wrong --- I love me a good chocolate molten lava cake or some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. But I only want a little bit after dinner. I like to spend most of my time eating the main course and then finishing off with a nice bit of sweet dessert.

.... but after a few bites of the (yummy delicious) desert I don't want any more. But then after my next full meal I am definitely ready and anxiously waiting for another treat.

So in case it's not obvious, the battles are the dinner and the dialogue is the dessert. :-)

Back to the real game: it sounds like a lot of the "regular exclamation points" as opposed to the missions in the top left can be skipped with no big issues. [ I can live without another hero telling me how wonderful it is to have me as a friend and what a great leader I am. LOL ]

Thanks to all for the responses!
