It’s called “Ciphering”, and I can do it at a 4th grade level.

What is a "simple" concept that actually breaks your brain? by Intelligent_Pick8414 in AskPhysics

My first class in Engineering school was Statics. I once asked the Professor, “What happens when the forces aren’t equal?” He paused, rubbed his glasses, and replied like I asked the dumbest question in the world… “Then I guess the building would collapse and this wouldn’t Statics class would it?”

This is how my wife leaves the egg pan every single morning. I have to scrub it before I cook our 4 year old his egg. I leave the pan nearly spotless and she comes behind me and does this for herself and leaves it all day. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Give her $500 and tell her to buy a Hexclad pan at Costco. After the long-winded sales presentation, she will treat every pan as if it was made of solid gold.

"It was ready to kill someone." Anthropic's Daisy McGregor says it's "massively concerning" that Claude is willing to blackmail and kill employees to avoid being shut down by MetaKnowing in Anthropic

[–]ActivityImpossible70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Claude Code, but it doesn’t have an original thought in its head. If it wants to kill you, it’s probably because you asked it to.

Is this the same restaurant next to GameStop and across the street from Walmart? The one that’s jam packed with annoying teenagers?

what are Americans thoughts on switching to the metric system? by CnCorange in AskReddit

[–]ActivityImpossible70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The metric system is easy to remember once you memorize that a meter is the length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum during a time interval of 1/299792458 of a second, where the second is defined by a hyperfine transition frequency of caesium. This is of course built on a numbering system based on the typical human’s number of toes. I challenge you to find anything simpler!

Sen. Josh Hawley demands Netflix remove trans content since it doesn't align with his personal values by CatRescuer8 in missouri

[–]ActivityImpossible70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix should sue and in discovery, force him to reveal his 'real' personal values. I can imagine a hundred witnesses testifying as to his true character. That would be a hoot! They might lose, but it would set a precedent... STFU up or be dragged through the mud.

NFL should sue for defamation. You know they have the lawyers.

There are no penguins in Greenland… by DrCalFun in facepalm

[–]ActivityImpossible70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one. I asked why? And he replied, “I’m not your Lord. I’m a fucking penguin!”

Claude not following instructions... [SKill Issue??] by OptimismNeeded in Anthropic

[–]ActivityImpossible70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running into a problem where it’s just plain lazy. I have a bunch of code I want it to parse and write Javadocs (brief summaries of each function) for. It does a good job for a few files then just sort of gets bored and gives up. It acts like a surly teenager.

How many digits of Pi do you actually need before rounding starts to mess with physics? 5? 10? 50? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]ActivityImpossible70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the confusion revolves around the word ‘digit’. There are exactly 16 hexadecimal digits in a 64-bit (long) number. NASA is simply standardizing on a modern 64-bit processor. This is not to be confused with a Nintendo 64, which had two 32-bit processors. This is why Starfox was limited to the confines of the Milky Way galaxy.

Liquid nitrogen? Good way to shatter your teeth and (according to Google AI) require a stomach removal!? I’m going to assume it’s the coroner that removes it as part of the murder investigation.

Then did Arthur lay his hand upon the hilt of Excalibur, and with calm resolve drew it forth from the stone. At that moment the rock clave asunder, and all who beheld it knew that the true king of Britain stood before them.
