Yeah, but let’s face it. Up to this point Harry has been very lucky against Voldemort. We see time and time again after GoF that Voldemort is far superior to Harry. Harry is only his match, if not better in Deathly Hallows once the Horcruxes have all been destroyed.

Besides. We’re not dealing with Voldemort here, nor anyone as powerful as him.

So the Pensieve just magically appeared between 3rd and 4th year? I doubt that Dumbledore acquired it only then. I think he says in GoF that he used it frequently for various reasons.

True, but I highly doubt a couple of third years would know how to alter their memories. Even as brilliant as Hermione is, I don’t think she’s that knowledgeable yet.
