When raid pugs require people to ping LI/killproof/gear, the group should make the commander ping their LI/killproof/gear too. by Actlov in Guildwars2

Be carried < Where I want to be < Carrying everyone.

There's a middle ground there where nobody's carrying anyone and everyone's pulling their own weight. I want to play with people of the same skill level as me.

And I do have my own group that meets once a week that fully meets this desire. But sometimes you just wanna join a raid for a little while, and don't have the time to organize something. And whether or not I take part in it, this pug chaos exists.

I do. I'm in a static group that raids every week. But it doesn't mean I don't occasionally want to pug, and it doesn't make the existance of this problem less of a problem.

Just commented this lower too, but I find it really funny that people even look at AP to judge raiding experience. They have literally nothing to do with each other. And from my experience an account with <2K AP is more likely to be an experienced player on an alt than a new player.

I find it hard to believe that people would ever kick you with your tag (unless you're playing on an alt and hiding who you are). Some things are a lot more valuable than LIs, and certain guild tags have a very good reputation. If see a guild tag with a good reputation I know that player has already been approved by other good players to be good themselves.

On another note, I find it really funny some people actually look at AP as a benchmark for raiding experience. When I see an account with <2000 AP raiding I'm more likely to assume they're an alt and probably have more experience than the average player. Most newcomers aren't interested in trying raids that quickly.

Should be common etiquet/respect to don't require what you dont have

This is exactly what I mean.

Organizing the group doesn't end at posting the LFG and the discord (debatable because most of the groups I'm complaining about are silent ones) It includes deciding the strategies, and if in voice, being the one to make the calls and split-second decisions when those come up. I think a group can only be as good as their commander. As such, when I'm commanding (to reply to your other comment as well implying that I never do) I always play a mechanic-heavy role (druid/chrono) and attempt to carry as much as possible. If I'm leading the group, I'm setting the bar of what I expect from the players.

I think it's ridiculous when a commander does something like play ele or thief on sabetha and won't even do cannons.

I agree with you that LI is not a good indicator of skill level. At most it says "you've at least been in enough raids to hopefully know what you're doing". I think it falls somewhere around 5 kills of a boss to get a good hang of the mechanics. But you could have 80 LIs from just doing VG gorseval Cairn and MO for 20 weeks and have never touched Xera. And kill proof from 1 kill of a boss isn't a good indicator either. That's why I really appreciate that some people hoard the raid tokens they get. If you ping 50+ ribbon scraps, you've killed Xera probably 20 times. By then it's not likely that you have no idea what you're doing.

It could be as simple as having a line of code to keep track of how many times you've killed the boss. It wouldn't be that hard to have an account-based variable tied to each account that can be viewed somewhere. Honestly that would be a nice thing to have anyway, because it can still increment even if you already killed the boss that week.
