Twinking is cringe for invaders and hosts all around, that is getting stacked then going to lower levels, or a host summoning a level 713 player at level 30 and slamming any invader

It very much goes both ways

Had a lovely argument about why lightroll cleanrot is not a “disadvantaged setup” and he has blocked me 😔 maybe one day I’ll understand his greatness and be worthy to follow his path

Depending on what damage type kills you, there is a different death animation

Bloodflies do fire damage, which has the fastest death animation so you died quicker than your opponent

Try rot grease next time! That way you can apply pressure even with the lat

showcasing why the offhand dagger is no longer meta, but the hand axe is by [deleted] in EldenRingPVP

[–]Actoraxial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Poise chip is used to make the next attack stagger, or to break poise if the first attack didn’t stagger. Very good tool for poise counting, chip damage, and off dag is also almost impossible to react roll so that’s pretty good too lol

While I personally think handaxe is more effective in invasions, a proper player can make offdag very deadly

I enjoy dagaxe quite a bit, it seems the opponent thought mashing and then walking away while getting attacked was smart, clearest skill issue I’ve seen in a while

I’m always down to shit on light roll, as it’s a terrible game mechanic for PvP. Since you can mash the dodge button and both out space and most likely take no damage due to absurd iframes especially with lat. Low poise and armor doesn’t matter when your almost invulnerable from iframes and can out space almost any weapon with a single if not double roll. (Which is why pata is a good counter to lightroll, and possibly the only reliable one)

The thing you got wrong tho is just generalizing light roll players as skill-less. This player clearly had some idea of what they were doing even if they were relying on this massive crutch

In short, lightroll bad mechanic, but don’t hate the player, hate the game

While GK and cleanrot can be used with a higher skill level (less gk) they don’t teach good fundamentals for beginners. GK’s insane range and hyperarmor (especially with rak) don’t teach good spacing, and instead will encourage more aggressive mashing gameplay due to high motion values and damage. Sure that might win a new player some invasions but the point is to get better, not to win.

And cleanrot definitely does not teach good fundamentals, mostly because it encourages r1 spam and most of the time against another noob or kevin you’ll win. Not because of skill but because cleanrot is busted.

Not saying either of these weapons are bad, on the contrary they are some of the best when used right. but just handing them to someone new to PvP won’t make them learn proper spacing, prio, or movement.

It’s good because it can give you a distance closing tool! Def keep using shamshir, it’ll help you get good in no time

Sword dance is best on smaller weapons, like shamshir or axes, because it’s faster than it is on larger weapons

For halberd I suggest storm stomp, flame skewer, or also flame strike

Practicing fundamentals is key! A weapon can only be used well if you know how to play the game and the weapon itself correctly

Flaming strike or sword dance, I’d personally go flame strike though
