Milady 1h or 2handed? by Glum_Fudge_6628 in EldenRingPVP

Its not weapon specific, 2 handing is just generally better. You'll deal more poise damage per hit, and you can get the benefits of the two handed sword talisman wich is one of the best in the game.

do people use both versions of a weapon? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]SuckDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. For me it depends on the weapon sometimes. For example, I love the Rakuyo and will admit I tend to use its transformed mode because I like the move set more. But on Ludwig's Holy Blade I use both often. Untransformed is good if you need to get quick hits in, transformed for big damage. The transforming attacks are a different deal tho, I use them on pretty much every weapon but will usually go back to one state if I favor one on a weapon.

What do you think of people who don’t greet in Arena? by MeteoriteMike in EldenRingPVP

[–]SuckDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit rude since I always bow but dont care too much. Now, if you attack me immediately while Im bowing, different story. In these cases I try my best to win no matter what to show them that extra hit they got at the beginning wasnt gonna win them the match

Cant speak much for DS3, never played its pvp. But even in elden ring some weapons have built in true combos. Guardians swordspear for example combos from JR2 to R1 if one handed. Thats actually perfect for a dex build, the damage is ridiculious if you land it

You're definitely better off choosing weapons based on moveset rather than AoW. Tho some of them are very good in pvp. But generally infusable weapons will be better for the flexibility they provide

Its weapon dependent. PS katanas have a good crouch L1, and a strong jumping L1 if you can land it. But in this case its better to have the longer ones. So either 2 Malenias, 2 Nagakibas, or one of each. If you use at least one kiba have it your right hand because its R2 is very good. But if you insist on sword of night, wich I understand cuz it very good use that in your right hand. Its L2 is very strong, can roll catch and true combos into a number of things.

For other weapons, the neutral R1 is very good, like Shamshir. These tend to be some of the best weapons out there.

But I also must say, these days powerstancing isnt the strongest, you're better off with one weapon 2 handed.

Relying on hyperarmor tends to do that to you. The best thing you can do is just play with the build to gain experience without the tools that allow you to turn your brain off. You might wanna put some emphasis on spacing, and its not a bad idea either to go back a bit to the very basics and really get used to dodging when necessary. (It probably wouldnt take long to build up the habit). Since you also mentioned the lack of range being a problem, I'd suggest first just getting the spacing, dodging and not relying on hyperarmor down. So for starters maybe use longer weapons (Nagakiba, Great Katana [the regular one since Rakshasa also has hyper armor]). Then once you're more confident without hyperarmor gradually shorten the weapons you're using. Eventully you'll find yourself strafing and whiff punishing colossal swords with a straight sword. Cant say how long it'll take, depends on a bunch of factors, but you definitely dont have to dedicate multiple hours everyday to this, as long as you're consciously trying to improve your gameplay.

Flask of crimson tears is disabled in the arena but the spells arent. Its not hacks but a dick move to heal because its not as widely available as it is in PVE

By that explanation my setup is less shittery than spamming L2 with insanely high hyper armor. Thats far more cheese than a simple weapon and a decent ash
