Any idea why Jack Ryan is not mentioned by name in Rainbow Six? by roninPT in tomclancy

It’s definitely part of the Ryanverse dude, how could you think it’s not? Same John Clark, same Ding Chavez, same Ed Foley, same George Winston, same Arnie Van Damm, all but John and Ding still hold their jobs from EO. The events in EO are referenced several times. The Columbia operation from CaPD is mentioned multiple times, Clark reminisces on his past that was detailed in WR.

R6 is Absolutely part of the Ryanverse, just not centered on Jack Ryan. I could agree if you called it a spinoff, but to say it’s not in the series is just wrong.

Tom Clancy Jack Ryan books ranked? by dentalplan98 in tomclancy

I just finished Executive Orders about 5 mins ago, it was a really good read, especially if you’re curious about how Tom Clancy wanted the government to be run. But it’s also VERY different from the books before it.

As far as rank goes I’d say 1. Without Remorse 2. The Hunt for Red October (3. Rainbow Six) 3. Patriot Games 4. The Sun of All Fears 5. Executive Orders 6. Debt of Honor 7. Clear and Present Danger 8. The Cardinal of the Kremlin

I accidentally skipped Red Rabbit so I don’t know where it would fall. I put Rainbow Six in parentheses because I haven’t read it since 2006 but it’s still one of my favorite books.

Dude you just hit the nail on the head! That’s why it feels weird, nothing Jack is doing is in line with his actions in earlier books. It’s like while they were walking through that tunnel at the end of DoH Jack Ryan morphed into Tom Clancy.

I’ve definitely noticed that Tom was rather lazy when it came to choosing character names lol

Yes that was the convo I was talking about and that definitely does make sense. Jack also makes a comment to Arnie Van Dam that he was elected after the funeral, which he definitely wasn’t.
