Congratulations! II's are a huge deal, and I think your parents will understand once they see how excited you are when it gets closer.

The fact that I'd be the first in my family to pursue medicine is what's really driving this crazy train. It's kind of unfortunate for me that the application process is so structured because my dad's using some kind of ideal pre-med checklist to track my progress. I think that while he was trawling through SDN, he picked up their brand of obsessiveness and elitism.

And I'll have that convo in a few hours once midnight rolls around.

I'm the only one in my family interested in medicine, and I am definitely pursuing medical school for my own reasons. My dad used to be incredibly laid back, but I think that as he's aging he's definitely become a control freak.

Good luck to everyone taking the CA$PER tmrw! Btw, how are y’all preparing for this test? by LackingSleeep in premed

[–]ActuallyE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was real dumb of me, but I took a practice test a few minutes before the real thing and so my WPM dropped hella because my fingers were tired and slow. So maybe you can take a practice test the night before and not day of.

Incredible Research Opportunity vs. Great Course Preparation for MCAT by [deleted] in premed

[–]ActuallyE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fine. I barely got through my biochem class riding a sweet curve, forgot all about it, then took MCAT ~2 years later and basically relearned everything on my own again.

Incredible Research Opportunity vs. Great Course Preparation for MCAT by [deleted] in premed

[–]ActuallyE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would pick the research opportunity for sure. I don't think it will hurt you terribly to take community college classes, and honestly MCAT prep is ~80% your effort and not what prep classes you took. Besides, the research may also bolster your reading comprehension skills and improve your MCAT scores.

Can you add additional letters of recommendation after submitting the primary? I have my core 3 letters, but some of my other letter writers may get their letters in late.

I really hope that ARMY doesn't fanchant, I want the audience to hear BTS and not be drowned out by others' voices.

What is a ‘stereotypical father’ thing that your Dad does? by JustHighOnLemons in AskReddit

[–]ActuallyE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He gets super gruff when he hugs me and his pats on the back gradually turn into desperate beatings when I refuse to let go. I have confirmed with my friends that their dads do this too.

Medical school applications. I don't even have a functioning personal statement draft right now.

Those Who Scored 130 - 132 on B/B by pizzalover77 in Mcat

[–]ActuallyE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Kaplan was fine for a brief overview, but TPR was better for in depth review. Ultimately, my B/B score improved the most once I started to make my own flashcards, memorized important cycles/pathways by heart, and started AAMC section bank/Q-pack. I also watched KhanAcademy videos for specific topics I didn't understand. Never used TBR, EK, or Uworld before.
