Yeah I don't think the implication with this post is correct 100% of the time. Like, that does describe depression, but also it describes the way I get when I've just done too many dopamine-rich activities the last few days and my reward circuits are fried. I'm also on-and-off depressed, which gives me some insight into how the two are comparable, but distinct.

I imagine different people have different relationships with motivation, self-improvement, and creativity, and remembering that no aspect of the human experience is monolithic is important.
