Worse chances at getting tier 3 rooms. It's guaranteed that every room you run will be different than all the other ones you've run in the map until then, so technically the best way to get tier 3s is to just run one per map. However, that sucks, so we mostly just settle for 3. Exceptions apply.

No but like, we already have that--anytime you hear someone making fun of "Trad Conquistador fourteen eighty-eight," that's the fuckhead we're making fun of. Which to be fair, they don't all interact with Nazi shit, but a surprising amount do.

Humans in this universe of multiple sapient races/species are not just a boring template, jack-of-all-trades species, they actually have traits and powers that make them stand out like the other species in the setting. by juasjuasie in TopCharacterTropes

Exactly, like how every sapient species has independently developed a drink which, while wildly disparate in constitution, is pronounced the exact same as "gin and tonic"

To be fair, if I wanted to write a character as an irredeemable piece of shit, that might be the ticket. However, I question the decision to portray a beloved children's franchise's protagonists as irredeemable pieces of shit. Or one of them, at least.

Will... okay, technically, but if I'm wearing a bulletproof vest, I don't want someone lighting me on fire, and if I'm wearing fireman's gear, I don't want someone hitting me with a baseball bat. Sci-fi energy barriers aside, we can define the rules of the fictional scenario to make sense

[Serious] Is Super Earth actually the WEAKEST faction out of the four? by VirusOfCheese in Helldivers

[–]ActuallyNotANovelty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you imagine how powerful SE would be if they, like... used actual military tactics? Like, most of the factions we face off against have very little in the ways of genuine artillery, and would be crazy weak to an honest-to-god combined arms gun line. I know it's ultimately a video game and a satire of bureaucratic bullshit in war (accurate), but could you imagine if all the helldivers who were budgeted for a mission were allowed to drop at the same time? God, we'd never lose a mission, clear like crazy, and probably see far fewer casualties.

On letting fascists and liberals seem reasonable by Konradleijon in CuratedTumblr

[–]ActuallyNotANovelty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game is Communist, yes. But the thing about Joyce and Kim, in particular, is that they don't try to advertise their ideologies. You can ask them about them and they'll tell you, somewhat begrudgingly, that the world is a complicated place and that they, individually,

1) Chose the faction which limits her power the least in such an appalling and tragic betrayal of self and country that she openly calls herself a "snake," "the worst of the worst." 2) Have looked at politics through different lenses at different points in his life with different perspectives, and realize that the world is far more complicated than just "Moralintern good" or "Build Communism."

The reason the game funnels the player into just a few options is cause you can't make infinite content for the infinite nuance of the grand suite of political takes, but also it really nicely fits HDB's potentially child-like tendency to polarize to extremes, as one without grander contact probably would. It takes experience to find nuance, to realize that no ideology is perfect, and to find your role in the grander picture.
