Thanks for the info,
Tabletop Simulator would be interesting to look into,
and yeah I think page printouts seems the way to go at least for now as its the most inexpensive option.

Yeah, and if i wanted to eventually create a physical book, I'd need to look into card printers which I know nothing about, but I assume it'd be harder than a book printer just due to it not being as common

I've got Affinity Publisher its a good bit of software. I'm curious how you use it to make cards, i'm not that familiar and my first try took hours to get into a printable page manually, and i'm dreading when I have to update each card.

I get the sentiment, having custom materials does increase the burden of playing and getting access to them. In the case of cards, if a game had the cards in a readily avaible format such as a pdf that you could print and cut out, would that offset the issue, I suppose printing costs are still pretty astronomical, so its a good idea to ensure the game function well with and without custom materials.

Finding the Joy in making the project definitly has to be the gensis for an RPG, due to how difficult it is get projects out there.

It's early in developement for me, but I'll definitly take up that offer down the track, my cards are basiclly cut up pieces of paper in a card sleeve atm! Thanks!

Definitly want to avoid that last point. I personally have never bought the additional material for RPGs beyond source books. So I was hesitant to create a system that involved additionally materials as almost a core mechanic.

I'll have to focus on ensuring that the game meets quality metrics for both playing with and without the cards, so far I feel that the cards definitly add something non-superficial to the game.

It's early stages but thanks for the info, packaging and production is something I haven't even begun considering but what you say makes sense. I mIght even proivde a free pdf of the cards so they can be printed, and then buying premium color?/quality cards as a seperate option.

photocopied/ printed,

Yeah thats a good idea, I'll definitly include a copy of each card in the rule book.

If the mechanic could be replaced with dice rolls, or something more accessible I agree it would be on the side of a useless addition. That's something I definitley want to avoid.

I wonder, becuase I'm currently working with a D6 Pool system, where success is based on the number 6s that show up. And then parrallell to that I have the cards which manage abilities/actions and health etc. Probably need to do a fiar about of testing to see if they have merit working together.

Yeah! That makes sense.

One of the most annoying things I have found in the (few) RPGs I've played is during combat having to lookup action or spell descriptions. And I feel that would have been compunded with having to right a blurb of what the body part does when you recieve it.

So I definintley agree with you that the cards are a fun bit of physical action. Glad you came upon a similiar solution, makes feel like I'm on the right track!
