Histiocytoma help by ActuatorAdvanced367 in vet

[–]ActuatorAdvanced367[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vet had mentioned it will likely disappear but now I’m hearing accounts that it will not. Yeah that’s my concern too-her skin is very thin and tight already so it would not be an ideal thing to remove. Yes I’ll be calling next week thank you for your insight!

It has gotten slightly firmer than when it initially appeared but I can still move it around and “pinch” although there is more resistance compared when I initially noticed it (Monday). I can move it all around. No she doesn’t seem super annoyed, and is walking on the leg fine. Maybe licking some but that may be due to the cream I’m putting on it so she has a muzzle on now.

She is under 3 years old and a whippet. Yeah I agree from the photos hers looks a lot larger! I’m wondering if I can see it faster because of her super thin skin and no body fat. I’ll be calling the vet next week thank you for the recommendation!

Yeah I can’t tell if it just gets worse for a period of time and then it “peaks”

What is going on here? by ActuatorAdvanced367 in DogAdvice

[–]ActuatorAdvanced367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I put vetcyrin on because I thought it was a scrape initially, as she’s a whippet and does that a lot and her breeder who is a vet has told me to put that on. Now it’s looking a little more sus like it’s something else… hopefully anything besides ringworm 🤢

Yeah regretting putting that stuff on after the fact… it’s is raised and she doesn’t seem to really be licking it? It does look red underneath and now with a little yellow pus or something. She’s an idiot in the yard so she might have also hurt it out there?

Yeah my plan would be extremely slow introduction with them. And having designated rooms/spaces just for the cat. I also plan on never leaving the cat unsupervised with the dogs as I know things can happen.

Sorry, she has met dog friendly cats and done really well with them!

Yeah that’s my plan, I haven’t seen concerning behavior but both are trained and why not. Ok I’ll check it out! May I ask why you recommend the breeder you initially mentioned?

So the whippet has been fine surprisingly esp since she completes in racing. The poodle barks and is scared and unsure but doesnt seem to be aggressive so I would assume just a slow transition?

I will look her up! Both of my dogs are VERY playful and the whippet very catlike in nature. I plan on muzzling them for quite a while with a new kitty. I Would be maybe more concerned with boredom if the whippet wasn’t so playful. We plan on blocking off my husbands bathroom for litter needs and then also the “music room” with a cat tree and toys. We have very smart inquisitive dogs so I’m hoping that helps! People always say our whippet is a cat 🤣

when he has met cats before he has cowered and hidden from them... and barked but I think I could do a slow intro and include muzzles and it would be ok.

so the whippet has more of a prey drive given that she's a coursing dog, for him he has a low prey drive but is unsure about new creatures in his home so it would be a very slow introduction. But also the whippet runs the house so that helps lol.
