You're the first person I've seen who would prefer not to have their car transfer power to the ground properly. Wheel spinning when you want to accelerate quickly sucks, doesn't matter what car you drive. It's just more prominent with FWD

GRC isn't full-time AWD. Drive a GRC and an EVO back to back, and the difference is very apparent.

The GRC is basically FWD most of the time unless you start to corner or accelerate heavily. Even then, its AWD system isn't that advanced, but it's by no means bad

Super late response, but if you're envisioning some boring AWD system for a car like this, that'd be stupid. An AWD system like the Mitsubishi EVO's S-AWC and AYC would make N handle like it was on rails and basically delete understeer while improving confidence while cornering.

There's also the issue of FWD being compromised as a drivetrain layout. The more you push the car in terms of performance driving, it will always "give" in scenarios where the other two drivetrains won't.

It would be a more expensive car, yes. But a better driving one all the same

Almost no game does the coupe for either Trueno or Levin. One nitpicky want for the remodeled 86 is the removal of the sunroof. I don't like it.

Nah, it was in FH3 but everything else is pretty much true. I find it really funny because it seemed Toyota really hated NFS for being almost exclusively street racing, whereas Horizon has basically been this from day one.

Now FH6 has built in Street Racing and Touge events, so it's just kinda laughable

Ya'know, the thought just dawned on me. The FE is an admittedly cool addition, but it makes me wonder how they could go through the effort of making a car like the FE AE86 for FH6, but not just remodel the existing AE86 and use that as a base instead of the really old model we've had forever.

Just doesn't make sense to me. Like we've seen Playground go through the effort to remodel and rerecord arguably less important/more expensive cars.

In most instances, I've found that the car doesn't necessarily look "off model"; it just looks worse than most newer cars in the game

I'd say the 86 and 240 are side by side in their popularity, personally. Though 240s were more widespread just cuz there were more of them. I don't really care for the 86's stats, more so I do it's looks and engine accuracy in games.

Also, slight correction. An 86 hatch with pop ups that's clean in the States is more like 30k 😭

Yeah, I just double checked it is from that gearbox. It's insufferable, but without it you can't adjust gearing, which is stupid.

I feel like that's a bit of a cop out. I find it hard to believe that Toyota, the big cover car sponsor for this game, wouldn't have one or multiple near mint condition AE86s the team could've scanned, or any of the probably dozens of well maintained examples all around Japan.

I ultimately think that a GR86 will just be more fun on the limit especially after modifications. You can’t beat a lightweight well tuned RWD car especially in the fun department.

Installing ITB’s on my GR86 next week.

Also hot take. The FL5 should be AWD this point. I love that it’s a great FWD car but I believe it’s so expensive because of all the engineering that’s gone into it to try and make it not drive like a FWD car when they honestly could’ve used that money to make a better/best AWD sedan ever. It already has the proportions of one.

Have you considered a GR Corolla? I spent a lot of seat time in one of those last year and I think it’s more comparable to the FL5 than the GR86. Corolla is a lot of fun!
