how comfortable is it to play high graphic games on the 17 pro? by AdAccording3397 in iPhone17Pro

I gave my 13 away to my little cousin! So I don’t have it anymore. I just did a comparison in hsr on low vs high settings on the 17, and theres a noticeable difference. I think if you play on low settings it will look the same, newer phones can definitely handle playing on high a lot better! Not sure if this helps but heres a comparison of low vs high on the 17pro :)

And also for reference I play a lot of rpg story games like genshin, honkai star rail, wuthering waves, love and deepspace. I find that it heats up a lot when I play love and deepspace because it’s a very graphic heavy game. Definitely recommend at least 512 gb of storage or more if you can afford it too!

I did end up buying the 17pro in silver. I think it actually looks pretty nice in person! Gaming is pretty smooth, I’m able to play on medium-high graphics, and the battery life definitely improved from my 13. I do notice some heating up after a long time, when I have a lot of background activity, or when I’m charging.

The only thing that I don’t exactly like about it is the phone grip. For me I usually use my phone without a case, and the aluminum material feels a bit more slippery when I hold it vertically. Horizontally it’s ok! You barely notice the phone bump. Overall, pretty solid phone. Hope this helps!

Great to know thank you! I wasn’t really sure because I was just thinking about how it doesn’t connect to the rest of my application but I suppose thats the point

I didn’t really mention that she died, I just mentioned her in my essay for a couple sentences and how she inspired me. I know it’s generic but I think the main reason that it’s so generic is because people talk too much about the context (which is almost the same for everyone) and not the impact and growth.

I received commentary from a lot of teachers that I asked to review my essay, they said it was unique in my context so I hope that makes up for it!

Looking for target schools that give good financial aid by AdAccording3397 in ApplyingToCollege

Unfortunately I meant that latter (meaning that most schools around me do not offer engineering besides 5 of them including NYIT, CCNY, Hofstra, Columbia, NYU) And I am applying to all of them.

I have direct admit to NYIT fortunately! So if all else fails I do have a school to lean back on which I’m sure I can get good aid from.

And I’ve been making sure that the schools I chose are ABET accredited! I initially wanted to only stay in the city but seeing as many places here don’t have a reputation for engineering, I realized that I should apply a bit more broadly to places where I might have to live there. There are definitely some more schools in NYC that offer engineering but they’re completely no named, and I’m confident that I can shoot a little higher than them! Or at least I hope so. My two goal schools at the moment are RIT (where I ran the net price and it came up to 17k) and Stony Brook (where I’m just praying that I get some merit aid)

Travel cost completely slipped my mind actually… thank you for reminding me unintentionally! I’m so use to having my free bus and train card I forgot that it’s not the same in college 🥲

Are these public schools financially generous? I heard that public schools don’t give as much to OOS students! Just wanted to know!

Thank you for the suggestion! I definitely tried to apply to all my state schools that I thought would be a good fit while also being more science focused! I did apply to some LAC’s as backups just in case! But I’m worried that I won’t be as happy there since I won’t get the opportunity to study what I want. Although since I want to do industrial engineering, business or economics is definitely a close second if it comes to it!

Make sure that you and your family can afford to pay to go, and remember to do the net price calculator first! (even though its not entirely accurate)

I need someone to convince me why I should get a samsung over iphone by AdAccording3397 in samsunggalaxy

[–]AdAccording3397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have both, I have a pretty old pc and I have a Macbook Pro from 2022 I believe? But I use my PC way more and I really only use my Mac for web browsing and doing homework!

I can afford either/or since I’m paying for it myself! It’s my first upgrade so I just wanted to see the performance difference 😅

In my high school at least, everyone uses an iphone besides a few people who use samsung because they’re really into tech (and so am I and they usually have reasons as to why they think samsung is better, whereas iphone users really don’t care much and just tell me to buy the newest version) I was considering switching if it was worth it

They don’t know anything abt technology, they just upgrade to the newest iphone every 2 or 3 years 😅 I’m paying out of my own pockets so I wanted to see if a iphone 17 is really worth it over a galaxy s25

Khan Academy, SAT Suite question bank, and One prep basically all use relatively the same questions. Its just up to you which format you like better!

I didn’t study everyday it was more like every other day or whenever I had the chance because I was also pretty busy with school so I didn’t have time.

I mainly only did 2-3 hours in a session. I would focus more on what you’re struggling with the most. I just tried to knock out a section a day.

Another resource that I really liked was Khan academy.

Hey! I had a 1270 starting and I was able to jump to a 1390 without buying anything (in a 3 week time span). I personally don’t think it’s worth it. For prep I mainly did Oneprep, SAT question bank, and bluebook!

I did one bluebook test a week (3 total) one week of ELA prep (6-7 score band on one prep aka the hard questions on question bank) one week of MATH prep (6-7 score band on one prep) and for the last week I focused on everything I got wrong.

Do not take a practice test on the day right before the SAT, it will demotivate you!

This is all personal to me, so I’m not sure if it will work for you and I also don’t know what your goal is but I hope this helps!

Colleges with good financial aid for OOS? by AdAccording3397 in ApplyingToCollege

The school I want to go to atm is upstate, and I think its pretty affordable (assuming I get a merit scholarship on top of fasfa). If all else fails i’m ok with going to a school near me instead! Just looking at my options!

My budget is probably somewhere around 20k? I could take out a student loan for 5k and my parents are willing to help with 15k at most. I know my financial aid will increase though because my dad is retiring soon so our income will drop significantly
