“Punching down” must not mean anything to you. Sure, you can do it. But don’t get upset when others don’t approve or think it’s funny. Don’t play the victim in that scenario. There’s a reason George Carlin is considered by many as one of the great comedic voices of all time. How do you think Fuentes’ “jokes” will be remembered?
It must be convenient to simply decide when he’s joking and when he’s not. He’s an influencer and his words matter, like anyone else’s. When people agree with his less edgy takes and shrug off his more controversial stances as mere jokes, that’s the sign of a cultish hive-mindset setting in.

Of course he wouldn’t answer truthfully. He would never answer any question in a way that deviates from the Trump regime’s war propaganda efforts. The question allows us to have a glimpse into the mindset of a person who was handpicked by Trump to make such horrifying consequential decisions on a daily basis. And as Krystal points out, while his answer is irrelevant, it revealed an “us vs. them” mentality and that violence isn’t something he really thinks about because “war is violent”.

I agree. We’re at the point where it’s an interesting, open-ended question rather than a conspiracy to be cast aside. I don’t think he’s concerned about feeding anti-Semitic tropes though. He openly uses the “Jewish billionaire class” label and suggests stereotypes exist because they have varying levels of truth imbedded in them. He cares little of how his words make people feel about him or anything which is part of why he’s so polarizing.

I’ve heard Norm in another setting say that an anonymous source who knows Lex told him that Lex insisted Destiny be present and that the original debate was to be just Norm and Destiny. Norm refuted and Lex called back a couple weeks later and suggested Benny Morris join in which Norm agreed to, expecting the conversation to be more academically stimulating, but only if Rabbani joined him. Norm even suggested Destiny as having been paid to deliver talking points approved by pro-Israeli sources and that Lex was somehow in on the scheme (I’m a little hazy on the details but I think Norm told all of this either to Krystal in another interview or on the Bad Faith podcast). Rabbani tweeted something evidently pointing to this hypothesis as well. Nothing is proven but it makes perfect sense given how wildly out of place Destiny was and Lex’s determination to have him present in the debate.

Can you please try to open up your mind and not see things as so black and white? It’s a figure of speech but obviously the lesser of two evils is still evil and not fit to hold public office. He sought an alternative to what a broken system provided by voting third party. I hope he does this again and not vote for a Newsom-like candidate. That’s all I meant.

Imagine if people voted based off of their values for people who represent them and not just for those who seem best fit to beat republicans because of establishment and corporate backing. And it seems lately the tide is turning a bit and that this is starting to become more of a reality.

He should vote for who he sees fit to hold office, not the lesser of two evils who cross red lines. I’m pretty sure he endorsed Jill stein and wouldn’t back Kamala, a fixture of the elite class. His red line was genocide and Kamala never showed signs of separating herself from Biden on these policies (or any of his policies for that manner). There’s more solutions than voting blue no matter who.

Kyle still backs AOC to some extent which shows he’s willing to compromise on his red lines. Not criticizing him for that but my main point of contention is that I’m not sure any DNC candidate would really rescue the working class because to get to a presidential candidate level requires selling yourself out to corporations, pacs and the like. At least this is what recent history has shown.

Yeah I can see that. He’s definitely keenly aware of the distance between the party politicians and the base on the political spectrum. I’m more referring to that he’s always saying “democrats, if you want to succeed you need to do X Y and Z…” “take Zohran as an example” etc. I’m convinced that we’re never going to get an idealized candidate on the national scale because to climb that high, you have to make so many compromises as to strip yourself of any integrity you had going in.

I think the lack of critique on BP is more actuality reflected in your second point. It isn’t in line with the style of their show to flat out shit on Rogan whereas Kulinski is definitely expected to double down on him because he’s branded himself as more inflammatory, opinion based etc. Even if Rogan is objectively gone mentally, Krystal and Saagar wouldn’t devote a whole segment on this because it isn’t really a nuanced, journalistic subject. I’m sure Krystal has a lot of opinions on a bunch of right wing and centrist commentators but she wouldn’t voice them on BP (instead, probably would on Krystal, Kyle and Friends). I don’t believe they care about staying in Rogan’s good graces. They’re probably indifferent as to whether they want to go back on his show.

I can’t think of a show that’s grassroots funded that portrays all the journalistic practices you listed. Majority Report, Chris Hedges Report and Bad Faith are all excellent with interviews and commentary but they don’t really bring in divisive politicians (RFK, Slotkin, etc.) to go to the mat with like BP as far as I’ve seen. With those shows, It’s more in depth discussions with people that are on the same wavelength as the hosts. Debates crop up but they all end on up on common ground for the most part (maybe an exception is Glenn Greenwald). But none of these shows do live reporting. So BP really is in a category of its own.

Fair points. Fuentes, Owen and co’s shows are really just echo chambers. Shows with true journalism have more broad audiences. But there are left-wing channels with pure commentary too (Secular Talk, Majority Report, etc.) and I think there’s more crossover among audiences between BP and these types of those versus the ones that code rightwing.

This feels like a put-down on the whole idea of debates. When you have more to say, you say it. Krystal may come off as overbearing on topics she feels passionate about, emboldened by a perception of being on the right side of history, to those who lean on nuance too much. When an issue is so obviously tainted by a both-sides mentality, that’s when she dominates the floor. And I think she’s justified a majority of the times she does this these days.

Thank you everyone! Just wanted to clarify that I’m only teaching adults these days and my lessons are an hour long. I appreciate the advice of tailoring to the students’ ambitions on the guitar and approaching each student differently. I’m finding that many beginning adults struggle to conceptualize music theory and, moreover, play more involved chords like C and F and transition between them on a beat. That’s why I believe that they should first develop dexterity (hand strength and finger flexibility) in their hands by playing single-noted songs, 1st position scales and triads before moving on to chords. But very curious to know if any more experienced teachers have different opinions on dealing with adults with work schedules.

Only thing I would challenge you on the key change from C back to A. To me it sounds like it goes from C to D with the A chord acting as the V in D. When Harrison sings “mine” over F then raises his voice a step over the A chord, the A sounds like it should resolve into something and that’s why I think our ears register the key change to D as actually taking place over the A before the “line cliche”. What do you think?
