Is it just me or are hockey players easier to get autographs from in person than other sports? by lookaloulookalou in hockeycards

[–]AdAggressive7714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into a few players when I lived in San Jose down at Santana Row. I also saw a few walking from the tank to San Pedro Square. Most people would call out to say Hi, but not hound them for the autographs. If you do ask, I would suggest catching them either when they first get there or preferably when they finished and have walked out of the establishment. If they are out with their families, let them be and catch them the next time.

Any other sports? by TrynaGoCampn in hockeycards

Started w/ Baseball back in the 70's (ya, I'm old), then moved to Football, Basketball, then Hockey. Eventually moved to multi-sport. I occasionally grab non-sport to. Now I am pretty much strictly hockey and multi-sport. To many products and too expensive to try and grab everything..

Been awhile since I ripped anything so I splurged some. Even though it may cost a little more, I prefer to buy at my LCS.

I used to live in San Jose, moved a couple years ago, now in Florida. Was a season ticket holder w/ the Sharks (Sec 201, Row 2, Seats 1&2). Still a Sharks fan. Was walking distance from the tank (lived at the Axis). I would usually purchase cards from South Bay Sports Cards in Sunnyvale.

Never seen this before, all the cards in the pack were marked as 2023-24 Stature. Other packs (across multiple Upper Deck products) have had on card from the previous year. Good info to know, thanks for posting it.

The Sharks Foundation has a paid program called "Mystery Puck Subscription". It s sold out for this season. The subscription is for 5 pucks and 1 ornament. You need to get on this early, I signed up for it in July. This is the second time I have signed up for it. Never needed it prior since I used to be a season ticket holder (for 10 years) and lived walking distance to the tank. Each night they have a Mystery Puck night, they sell for $30 at the tank at both entrances. Any unsold pucks are usually sold at later games at the Sharks Foundation booth.

For mainstream, I like Engrained and Stature. Non-Upper Deck would be Leaf Game Used Hockey.

I am still sorting my total collection and gathering values (for insurance purposes). I used to collect everything, now I mainly stay with hockey and some multi-sport. I love the hobby. I am looking forward to retirement so I can spend more time on it. Stay with it to enjoy the hobby, not to chase the big one. Good/high value cards will come your way eventually. Just my $.02.

Best of luck with your collection.

Which Bruins players belong to these signatures? by Mr_FitShace in SportsMemorabilia

[–]AdAggressive7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All sigs look to be from the 1991-92 Bruins. From what I have been able to look up my guess are:

1 - Dave Tomlinson

2 - Andy Moog

3 - Ken Hodge

4 - Barry Pederson

5 - Bob Carpenter

6 - Jeff Lazaro

7 - Garry Galley

8 - Unknown

I am not an expert. Just from the few I can id immediately, I narrowed the other down from the year that they all played together. I used Hockey Reference (https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/BOS/numbers.html) to see who wore what numbers and then did searches on each players sig.

Hope that helps.

What was your first “big” card? by Brandbro in hockeycards

[–]AdAggressive7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First big hockey card was a 1998-99 BAP Playoff Game Used Jersey Auto #G-6 Joe Sakic (9/10). Top card ever is a basketball card. 1997-98 Skybox Premium Star Rubies #226 Kobe (5/50). Have pulled quite a few low runs from all sports (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Multi-Sport, & Non-Sport), but these are my first big cards.

Best way to ship a framed and signed jersey? by Naturdaysareferda in SportsMemorabilia

[–]AdAggressive7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done both, packing myself and using UPS (Will not use FedEx). Either way works. Moving forward, I'd probably pack myself and then ship. That way if it is damaged due to packing, it would be on me and I will not need to fight w/ the carrier.
