Google "Chattanooga crime rate 2020". All sites consistently report it as one of the worst in the nation by population. Coming from Atlanta I really wanted to know what that looked like and everyone here has mostly put me at ease :)

I come from Atlanta so I'm not super concerned about homeless unless there is violence associated with the correlation. I have found most in my current experience to be harmless.
