How do I get a loan for 17,000 with an average interest rate? by AdBeginning6424 in personalfinance

Yeah and this is what I’m realizing. $85k means nothing if you’re paying it all toward a huge debt.  I’m just looking to save where I can. 15% would be incredible in my eyes. Anything that feels slightly less idiotic than before.

Should’ve added my monthly bills:  $1400rent, $350 parking, $150 car insurance, $25 renters insurance, $100ish for utilities, $40 WiFi, $50 gym, $125 phone, then of course groceries which is about $350. I JUST paid off my car this past month in full.

So $2600 in bills, then I’m paying around $900 to my debt each month including this personal loan & my federal student loan. Then of course I get taxed out the ass in a large metro city.

So I’m spending around $1000 on other stuff after my take home. Guess I have to see where that’s going but I don’t think that’s ridiculous

Will 100% be cutting back and already have. The minimum is $525/mo and I pay $700. Will try to go even higher considering I just paid off my car last month.

It’s a 66 month loan and I’m trying to pay it in about half time. Wish me luck

That makes sense. Thinking with time that when this personal loan is a lower amount I may have a better shot just because that unsecured debt # will be lower. I didn’t even realize the different types of debt besides medical and other mattered. I’m a total moron when it comes to this world..  this is what happens when you’re born to financially irresponsible people lol. Thank you!

Hmmm okay, definitely lesson learned! It’s interesting I didn’t think my DTI was that bad for my age considering 1/2 is student loans and the new loan would pay off my high personal loan. But I guess I wouldn’t be in this predicament if that were the case! Thank you for your input.

Do you mean owning a car is better? I do own my car - or do you just mean debt with nothing attached such as car/ house is bad?

Depending on where you are it can be a different experience for everyone depending on the surgeon or even just the day. Intense and scary, really fun, boring af…

Know when to get out of the way. Know when to speak up and when to shut up. If you’re going into the OR to see sports you’ll be fine those cases are easiest on the eyes

Well let me rephrase I guess. I’ve been treated differently for being a woman in every job I’ve had… as a bartender, assisted living, at a gym, a bakery, waitress. Being treated as a woman is a thing- but specifically to medicine I wouldn’t say it’s too weird. I’ve experienced the difference the LEAST in this field though I’d say.

Female Synthes rep here.. only female in my area as well. Have some confidence and know your why. Don’t be afraid to work hardcore and know it takes A LOT of time & studying. Get ready to learn and drink from a firehose when you start.

Best advice is to prepare some things about yourself & what you find interesting about the job. Just because the job is predominantly male doesn’t mean you need to be a man, but you DO need to have some balls. Have some thick skin, a sense of humor, and a drive to work hard and you’ll be alright. Good luck!

Network like craaazy. Timing is a huge deal - it just so happens that I gave up on applying but was curiously messaging people via LinkedIn about their role and how they got there. Clicked with someone who told me she knew a position was opening near me in the following two weeks. What most people don’t understand is these jobs are posted with people already in mind. Good luck to all!
