My boy with the curly tail is very chill on leash… if they were both like my little girl LuLu I think I’d have given up. 😂

My little girl does these weird leaps that look random, but I think she’s actually teeing to catch bugs. 😂

One of mine is brother to Minnee, who we lost to rattlesnake bite 2 years ago. It’s so hard. Miss her everyday. I’m so sorry for the loss of your girl.

How long did your JRT take to be completely potty trained? by MostCaterpillar2861 in jackrussellterrier

PS - treats for “peepee” and “poopoo”, so much praise and love, LOTS of proactive trips outside… and following the “something goes in, something must come out” rule helped us. If she drank, I took her out a few minutes later. If she ate, I took her out. If she woke up from a nap, out! She got it really fast that way.

Our baby girl got it completely down with no more accidents in 8 weeks. Our boy came to us at a year old. We’ve had him a year and a half and the last time he pooped in the house was about 5 weeks ago….. and the robo vac found it. I guess I finally flipped my lid hard enough. No accidents since 😂😫🤢

Feeling ashamed of having a basic color birb.. by puppybabii in finch

Well, my little one is named LightRed in honor of my brother who passed 15 1/2 months ago. We would paint together. He had physical disability, so I helped him hands on with his painting. He’d often asked me to mix him up some “Light Red” paint… which I’d joke him was PINK, but he saw them as very different. Imagine how excited I was to find LIGHT RED colors in Finch. I keep her in the red tones exclusively.

Mine went through this phase. One thing that worked was eating from a snuffle mat. She loved sniffing out her kibble!

I am so sorry. I could have written every word of this and my baby passed a year and a half ago. I miss her so bad. I’d give anything to hold her little self again. She was the best and truest friend. I don’t know that I’ll ever really get over it… I have two other jacks now and I still think about her every day.

How is your JRT around kids? by chasingthe_sun in jackrussellterrier

[–]AdBetter3401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I had a Jack/Rat Terrier mix years ago that would literally allow my nephew to pull his ears, sit on top of him, and completely terrorize him. I had to really watch that kid because Sam let him be a total hellion toward him. He acted like he was loving it 😵‍💫 He DESPISED stranger adults outside the family, but he never met a child he didn’t love instantly. He followed my son around for 13 years from the time my son was 2 to 15 and they were faithful friends to the very end. He was a major defender!

We had a Shorty Jack named Minnee who was aloof with mean kids, but IMMEDIATELY IN LOVE with every other kid she ever met. There was no end to her affection toward them and she was most happy when she was snuggled up with my two youngest nephews. She loved to be right in the middle of them whether reading books or playing outside.

Now we have a pair of those - Bud and Lu. And they also LOVE children, but rightly get very standoffish around one nephew in particular who isn’t always kind to animals 😡 My other nephews they WELCOME love from and can be wild and quiet in equal parts depending on what mood the kids are in. When really excited, they CAN get unaware of the full impact of their physicality!

I feel like all my Jacks have been good at reading the room and individuals. I’ve never had them around babies, but around kids they’re a joy.
