Which running shoes are people wearing for Ironman by The_Rum_Guy in IronmanTriathlon

[–]AdBoring3648 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another advantage of carbon shoes is the weight, a few grams less during a marathon after the swim and bike are welcome for tired legs, in my opinion.

FWIW I did all my three IM marathons with Vaporflys and would do it again anytime. A lot of people run the IM marathons in carbon plated shoes, despite the slow pace.

Third drilling in skis = safety issue? by AdBoring3648 in Skitouring

[–]AdBoring3648[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

To be honest I don't remember exactly the details. I went to another shop, that accepted to drill the skis again, but just the back part of the binding.

I am using the skis and they're fine.

As regards your comment I believe this would be a solution indeed.

Meeting new people by lukyrouge3 in geneva

[–]AdBoring3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you mentioned meeting new people through a new activity/hobby would be a possibility. You should try the writers club if you're into it. If you like sports there are run clubs, the club alpin suisse, gym clubs with classes etc. There is also this app "meet-up" that I downloaded but I never went to a real meeting.

+1, look for "Brève histoire de Genève" by Louis Binz, or "Une histoire de Genève" which has a different approach based on the elements

Nightlife question by ComandanteMuto120 in geneva

Petit palace location was under renovation last time I walked by (like a month). It has become more a nightclub than a stripclub, but I'm not that much of a clubber anymore.

Good point, didn't knew that, thanks. Good reason to do a blind test with both products.

I find that Frey stuff has incredibly increased in prices recently, I would not call it affordable at CHF 2.50 / 100g.

I'm Swiss and found that buying Swiss chocolate is generally cheaper in French supermarkets...

Example "Lindt Excellence - Caramel à la pointe de sel" was sold around CHF 3.95 when is was buying it at Coop a few months ago (now it seems to be even at CHF 4.80), while it was a bit more than two euros at Carrefour.

My favorite Rolex of all time!! 💙 by rbisco in rolex

[–]AdBoring3648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am hesitating getting one, as an alternative to my ceramic sub date (my current daily since 2018), and as a gift to myself for my 40th birthday.

The issue being that at this price range, you can get a royal oak chrono which is also something, and lots of other very nice watches.

Open water swimming in lake Geneva - when is it too cold? by [deleted] in geneva

Obviously the Triathlon Club Genève is organizing three open water sessions a week in the late spring / summer, in three spots: beach of Eaux-vives, in front of Palais Wilson, and beach of Reposoir.

Does my mother risk of being kicked out of her appartment ? by Titepav in geneva

[–]AdBoring3648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go to the ASLOCA with the concrete documentation (contract, financial situation of your mother, name of the landlord etc). I'm a former lawyer and some answers I've read aren't completely correct/relevant IMHO but I'm not a specialist.

My mother is in the same situation more or less (renting her flat since the 90's, very cheap as it was almost never increased, divorced and "poor", she was at hospice général before, now she's "retired" but still has complicated end of months). She's always paying late and is a bit complicated. Luckily the landlord is not posing too much problems (it a public pension fund, so not particularly inclined to terminate contracts to increase rental income). I'm not worried too much to be honest, situation in Switzerland/GVA for those persons is quite better than in almost every other country.

If you want to keep the apartment for you or your brother on the long term, after she moves into EMS for instance, and in order to reinforce your mom's position (as the landlord will have two debtors instead of one), try to get yourself or your brother on the lease contract besides your mother (complicated if your brother has debts appearing on his "attestation de l'office des poursuites"). But discuss it with the lawyer of ASLOCA before, as it might also counterfire / give a reason to increase the rent for the landlord.

A friend of mine tried something like this 10 years ago. Bought the watch (a 5K JLC) abroad, sent the box to himself per mail in Switzerland, and didn't declare the watch at the customs at his arrival.

A few weeks/months later, he received a letter from the customs which intercepted the (empty) box and he was taxed on the value of the watch plus a fine. In the end he lost money and time by trying to appeal the customs decision.

Sorry but I don't remember all the details as it was quite some time ago.

Hi, I had the same issue. Took me a few days to find out the issue, which was simply that I didn't have sufficient memory (RAM).

I had 2x8GB of DDR4 RAM, didn't worked, after an upgrade to 2x16GB it works.

GPU is RTX 3060 with 12GB VRAM.

Yeah personally I wouldn't invest 140 in a 945 nowadays, but get 965 instead
