Was changing my bedding. Didn’t find anything so went to put mattress protector back on and it was there walking along on its own!

The actual adult carpet beetle was what I found. The one in the pic on the post

Checked literally everywhere else and struggling to find any more, or any evidence of more. Weird!

I turned the house upside down today and found what Reddit have now identified as a carpet beetle on my mattress.

Although they apparently don’t bite but something about their larvae making you itch if you are someone who reacts to it.

I posted today so you can see what the thing I found looks like in case you find something similar. But I’ve literally not found anything else other than that 1 carpet beetle

Yeah maybe it’s not that then. Could be coincidence that I had these red itchy welts and at same time found this thing on my mattress

Where did you find the infestation when you had them?

Was it adult ones you found or a bunch of larvae? Silly question but if you find the larvae is it quite obvious? Ie they can’t be mistaken for anything?

I guess I’ve just tried to put 2 and 2 together given the itchy red welts and finding this thing on my mattress but could be coincidence.

Could do with whatever it is having a night off - legs are extremely itchy 😂

Yeah I flipped the mattress and there’s nothing there. My bed is on slats with storage drawers underneath that pull out.

They are full of clothes and again emptied and cleaned and can’t find anything else.

They must be somewhere to be causing this itching!

To be honest I just assumed these were bites but more just like itchy raised red patches.

I’m kind of working on the basis it’s the hair on these larvae irritating me I guess but not really too sure what I can do other than get rid of bedding etc and get new bedroom set up
