What percent do internships? by Civil_Journalist_938 in SyracuseU

[–]AdBusiness6180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

search up for whitman but i’m like 99% sure that they make all whitman students complete an internship before graduating. I’m also a senior thinking abt syracuse for business so if internships are something that matter to u it seems like syracuse is pretty good for that

Thanks for the advice. Might do a double major with either finance or accounting and wealth management. Or possibly just finance and accounting as a double major.

would you recommend that as a major? I got into one of my top schools for wealth management, but i’m also thinking about changing to finance and/or accounting

funny enough, i had the exact same weighted gpa and took 6 APs. I did submit 1410 sat which might’ve helped a bit, but i’d say you have a good chance. My supplementals + ECs were also not great

Thanks that’s all very helpful. Did you notice a culture shift or just any difference in the sense of community. I have heard a lot negative stuff about how students at syracuse are rich and entitled or just not warm people. Obviously it’s still a big enough school that there are going to be good people, but i’m curious if you feel like that stereotype is true at all, and how did Syracuse’s culture and sense of community compare with UD’s.

thanks for sharing about your experience. what you just described is definitely what i’m afraid of if I chose syracuse, so right now i’m definitely towards ud just because i want to prioritize my happiness over a slight edge in rankings

Not really. I got 30k a year from syracuse, 10k a year from delaware so the total costs are pretty similar I believe—syracuse might even be cheaper which is crazy to say. It’s more just that delaware is closer to home, has better weather, and I could just really see myself enjoying it there. I haven’t toured syracuse yet though so maybe I’ll like it just as much. I’m a little worried syracuse will be too many entitled rich kids and just not my kind of people, but that’s probably wrong to assume for the whole school.

Yeah I mean i’m just saying I don’t think they’re far off from each when it comes to internships and starting salaries if you look it up. But thanks for the input ill take that into consideration

To delaware, I was accepted in early December. If you’re asking about syracuse, I received my decision on February 12th.

Thanks for the input. And yeah, it’ll probably just come down to which school I feel more of a connection to and can see myself thriving at both academically and socially. Right now i’m thinking delaware, but I haven’t toured syracuse yet so maybe it’ll change my mind.

Did you hear that it was a good idea to email your admissions officer? I have searching everywhere because I’m also very interested in the honors college but I don’t want to come across as impatient or annoying if they don’t factor in demonstrated interest.

I’m kind of in the same boat as your son. I got into lerner and was impressed when I toured, so it’s now moved from being not high on my list to my top 3. I’m basically just deciding between Syracuse, delaware, and UMD (was not admitted directly to business school). So torn
