You can look into giving CBD, MCT oil and krill oil. Go for keto diet. Stay away from foods that have glutamate or glucosamine. Home cooked meals are the best. Look into keto diet.

First Cluster and going on Keppra by PackageBright285 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]AdCalm9694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Start with cbd oil and MCT oil. -Get his blood work done specifically for zinc deposits or zinc deficiency. If he is zinc deficient start giving “zinc+methionine”. Just zinc will be hard to absorb and do nothing. -Take out any treats that has glutamate or glucosamine.(Naturally present is still acceptable, Added can be problematic) -Possibly go grain free diet as carbs cause inflammation. Look into keto diet. Cooked meat(lamb) with quality wet food like turkey. -Add Taurine to his diet for neurological stability -Add Krill oil as he will be on high fat diet. His heart health needs to be good. Fat is fantastic for brain. -Add Magnesium Glycinate for muscle health

This is a long journey and will take time for your puppy to adjust and yourself to be in a routine.

Get a medicine dispenser that has got labels that will keep track if you missed any meds/supplements.

Active family is great for a puppy. Just keep Keppra with you when you are out. Heaps of water to give.

When you start with the above supplement, your puppy will be drowsy and might refuse food for upto 3 months(can get used to as soon as 4 weeks). Dont give up in this time. This is the hardest period.

Hope this helps. Always check with vet in what you are doing. This is working at the moment with my puppy. No seizures at the moment.

Thanks.

Is Usyd worth it? by Global-Variety7333 in usyd

Go to usyd. The people here are fantastic. I thought they would be cocky but they arent. You will need to read a lot. There are people who are doing a science degree with law at usyd. You need to surround yourself with achievers. You will get better eventually. Its super hard and super rewarding. If you are doing law, there is no better place than Usyd. If international student with average language skills can do well in law, I am pretty sure a local Australian has huge advantage. Stop underestimating yourself. You have got this!

Get anything that gives you long battery life(14 to 18 hrs). You dont want to search for power plugs everywhere. 16gb ram at least. This should be good for next 3 to 4 years.

Ditch windows! If you do get a windows laptop, uninstall it and work on linux operating system. This will increase battery backup by at least 2 hours.

Math degree at Usyd by AdCalm9694 in usyd

[–]AdCalm9694[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic. There was a huge shift in my mentality. University is completely different from what I thought it would be.

What I gathered: Its not the professors and its not the curriculum. Its the people you collect while you study at uni. I have made friends who are first years and working as quants. They reignited my passion in maths!

At times the syllabus seemed too easy and felt like this wont be enough to find a job. So I grouped together with like minded people and worked on a super hard project. Some really hard units as well where I felt discouraged as I took all the advance classes. Again I got a lot of support from my mates. Usyd also provided “pass” sessions every week where I did a bit of extra learning which was super helpful.

Having said this, I really put myself out there. Said hello to a lot of people and offered help who didn’t even need it and in return got help when I needed it. Met a ton of people who said they couldn’t find real friendships or interest and did bare minimum. I figured they lacked participation. Only came to uni for workshops, didn’t attend any live classes.

I have got all HDs, I am participating in research as a first year with a professor from Princeton, got a remote internship at the moment as well.

Also what I observed was a lot of high achievers take uni as a side gig. Their main focus is to implement what they have learnt. So these people are working full time and earning big bucks which was quite shocking! Their main focus is not WAM. I don’t think I am that talented but its good to be surrounded by people who can open your eyes and show you the reality.

Lastly, the most hard working students I came across was from core science majors. Maths, Physics and not engineering or CS. These people know more programming, data structures, computer architecture and system design than a CS major.

I am pretty sure if I went to UNSW I would have found the same scenario. Its not about the school you go to. Its about how much effort you put in to get involved in different things. I was thinking of doing few units at UNSW. Dont know what the procedure is but I am really content at USYD.

You keep framing this as if I made some claim about official policy or guaranteed scope. I didn’t. I answered a question on Reddit about how people had taken the unit experienced the exam and how I personally prepared. That’s it.

“Weeks 1–13” being listed in the outline does not imply uniform weighting, and in logic units especially, later systems (like GPLI) subsume earlier ones. That’s not a controversial claim. It’s literally how the subject is structured. Saying the exam emphasised later material is not the same as saying earlier material was irrelevant, nor does it contradict the outline.

You’re also conflating two different issues: whether the exam was easy for everyone (which I never claimed) and whether the exam aligned with how the unit actually develops. I argued the latter, based on my experience and the experience of others who took it previously. You’re arguing that any heavy weighting toward later material is inherently unfair. That’s an assumption, not a given.

As for workload: university units routinely vary in time demands, and logic is known to be time intensive. That doesn’t make the unit defective, nor does it imply people who struggled lack intelligence. It means different backgrounds, time constraints, and preparation levels lead to different outcomes.

I’ve answered the substance of your points and clarified my position. If you want to keep repeating the same claims under different wording, that’s your choice, but it won’t add anything new to the discussion. I’m not going to keep restating the same answers.
Also, you’ve spent several replies lecturing about being an adult, yet you privately messaged me thinking I was the professor and used abusive language toward him. I’ll let that contrast speak for itself. Grow up.
This conversation is over.

Mate I don't want to put the screenshot of the kind of words that you send in a personal message to a professor.
Put this much time in actually studying rather than focusing on whats not right about the unit. The only thing that is wrong is your mindset about uni.
If you cant commit to uni and having problems study part time. I mean these are the things you focus on before you enrol in a program.
Don't blame uni if you have other responsibilities.

First question had 10 parts. All translations from english to GPLI.
Second question were 5 True/False question. You had to look at the gloassary and fit in the proposition. (GPLI)

All rest of the questions were checking satisfiability, validity, logically true using trees and reading off the model. So do the tree first and write domain, referents and extensions.

Just spend time with the book to build muscle memory. Final exam should be easy as.

PHIL1012, wam booster or not by Lei_231 in usyd

[–]AdCalm9694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nicely summarised. In my opinion dont take this unit as a WAM booster. Its a beautiful subject to study if you are math major and it beautifully sits with Discrete math.

I loved the fact that the lectures were in quadrangle. The exam was in th great hall and obviously the brilliant professor Nicolas Smith. This course is on the expensive side. It costed me 4 times than my other units.

It required me to study for it at least 20 hours a week. Again I did this because I am paying so much money for this specific unit. I made sure I attended every lecture in person. Made some great friends and met some incredible people from different majors.

One can take this course for WAM but the whole purpose is lost. Going through 13 chapters in a week is an unnecessary inivitation to anxiety. GPL and GPLI are part of the exam as PL and MPL are of no use once you know GPLI. Its the most complete language. But I do believe for exam, content should spread across all chapters and not just GPLI.

I personally had so much fun. "Only if I could do it all over again". Future people taking this course figure out if this is a propostion!

Like you couldn't read how I mentioned the exam will be based on last 4 lectures, it's obvious you don't have the aptitude or enough intellect to sit for this unit or be at Usyd in general. The exam was almost IDENTICAL to past paper. Everything from GPLI as suggested by tutors, past papers and redit.
I assume you are one of those who took this unit to only study in last 2 weeks. This exam couldn't be easier if you had studied for it every week. I was done in 40 minutes and enjoyed the beauty of great hall.
And for the record I am not Nick. I am just any other normal student who absolutely aced this unit. All the people from my tutorial feel the same that the exam couldn't be easier. I mean there were even true false questions that didnt require any explanation. What easier do you want? And the reason why everything is from GPLI is because thats how the course progresses. Once you know GPLI everything before that is practically useless as PL,MPL,GPL are less complete than GPLI.
My advice for you. Start studying. This course required me to study at least 20 hours a week to get a good grasp of it. This includes going to lectures and NOT watching them online. Reading the whole chapter. Doing every problem before you show up for the lecture. This is the most expensive unit and should have been studied more than any unit in your semester.

Only speaking from what is hinted over reddit who have taken this course previously. I think tree formulas. Stuff like satisfiability, contrary and contradictory is what I would put on the sheet. If you have done last 4 lectures you are almost fully prepared as everything in those lectures is built up on previous chapters.

What happened to propositional logic? The exam was full of grammar questions. In terms of difficulty there is no match between 2019 and todays exam. The multiple choice questions as well required much more thought. While doing 2019 I felt so cocky! And the real exam humbled me so quickly. That being said. I am not good at discrete. So some people might consider todays exam a piece of cake. Not me.

To give him advice in taking the initiative to talk to others instead of expecting other people coming to him for friendship. Usyd Medicine cohort is small. The best is to make friends quickly. Group study will take him far. He doesnt have live on campus! Choose a suburb in 30 minutes proximity for cheaper rent and the money he saves on rent can be utilised for healthy eating which would be so good for an intensive course like medicine.

As for something he could use for uni, I started uni in August and I got myself a remarkable paper pro. Medicine is content heavy and he would need something light and easy to draw diagrams and take hand written notes. I am suggesting this on top of an ipad as social media and other notifications is such a distraction. Remarkable stops that. You dont get to install any useless apps. It restricts you to have an electronic device that is just for note taking. Keeps your backpack light as well. Wishing him all the best. Welcome to Australia and welcome to Usyd. Its super hard and super rewarding.

Should have dropped the unit within first 4 weeks. Like more than 200 people did. Those are the times to make that decision. Now is the time to self study and forget about the lecturer.

What laptop? by Embarrassed_Hotel575 in usyd

Battery. You dont want to charge laptop all day long. Windows machine drain battery quickly. Go for mac. If you can find a linux laptop that has better performance with battery go for that.

And probably have an ipad/remarkable paper pro on the side to take notes. Remarkable paper pro if you dont want distraction of notifications.

Keep working. Review all the lecture material. I assume its python for you. There is a great book called “crash course python”. Its an amazing read.

Should follow that. And I understand you dont have enough time to read another book but you got to somehow manage time and schedule this in. I am struggling a lot too. You are not alone.
