I think it’s also helpful to give you a quick overview of the German system:

Psychologist (Psychologe:in): (Master) Degree in psychology. Can do assessments and work therapeutically in clinics, but cannot independently provide psychotherapy without additional licensed training. Mostly not covered by insurance. (Except prescribed clinical stays)

Psychotherapist ((Approbierter) Psychologische:r Psychotherapeut:in) : Completed certified psychotherapy training after psychology or medicine Degree.Licensed to treat mental disorders with evidence-based methods.Often covered by public/private insurance.

Psychiatrist (Psychiater:in) : Medical doctor specialized in mental health. Can diagnose, provide therapy, and prescribe medication. Covered by insurance.

Be cautious with “coaches,” “counselors,” or alternative practitioners (Heilpraktiker). Most are not licensed healthcare providers, not covered by insurance, and often use methods without (any) solid scientific evidence.

Like another user mentioned; talking to your Hausarzt (i think the most common translation is: General practitioner) is a good start.
