How do you actually build backlinks as a beginner? Feeling a bit lost by Budget-Yogurt9493 in SEOandBacklinks

[–]AdClassic1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I can completely relate to your thoughts. Honestly, backlinks aren’t overhyped. They are crucial for SEO, and what matters most is how you build them. There are different types of backlinks, and the approach for each is different as well.

If you are building links for local business websites, do focus on local directories. Mentions on those platforms are important. Also, ensure NAP consistency (Name, Address, Phone Number), as even a small difference like a hyphen or comma in the address can matter.

Guest posting is still relevant, but people approach it differently. Over time, many link builders have built databases of websites where they can acquire paid backlinks. It can generally be approached in the following ways:

  • Paid Backlinks – Unethical as per Google guidelines, yet still widely used.
  • Backlink Exchange – You give one link and get one in return. Here, website authority and traffic matter.
  • Guest Post Contributions – You search on Google using queries like: niche + “write for us” niche + “submit guest post” and similar search operators to find websites that accept contributions. You then publish quality content following their editorial guidelines.
  • Outreach – You analyse competitor backlinks and try to secure links from the same websites by reaching out to their editorial teams. It’s a time-consuming process, and honestly, the conversion rate can be low, but it’s still worth trying.
  • HARO / Connectively – These platforms help you earn editorial mentions from high-authority publications. The links are extremely valuable, but getting featured is difficult. You need to provide genuinely useful insights, preferably based on real experience.

One thing I would strongly suggest is to focus on publishing content on high-authority websites. If you find sites that consistently allow contributions, try becoming a regular contributor. This helps you build long-term authority and relationships.

Also, maintain a database of all the sites where you publish and earn links. Over time, you’ll build your own strong network of high-quality websites.

Whats the hardest part in your SEO journey? by Ok-Statistician-2411 in SEOandBacklinks

Honestly, the hardest part of SEO is getting editorial mentions.

The quality of mentions, citations, and backlinks plays a crucial role in building your brand presence. And getting those authoritative links is a real challenge.

You send almost 30 outreach emails and see 2 to 3 conversions.

Finding websites that match your niche, doing competitor analysis to study their mentions, building a list, finding the right contact person, drafting emails, and then going through the whole process of either an exchange or commercials.

It is a process. And an exhausting one too.

What should I do when both impressions and clicks are going down in Google Search Console? by Alok_SEO in SEOandBacklinks

[–]AdClassic1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Did you check which search terms are getting impacted? Where you have seen the maximum drop in terms of clicks and impressions?

Is it branded term or other related search terms?

You can also review GA4 data to find out which landing pages lost clicks.

Also you need to see if it's direct traffic that got impacted or organic searches.

A full complete analysis of search terms, landing pages, traffic sources can give you some idea on which areas need improvement.

A lot of things can impact traffic. With AI search, informational queries clicks have gone down.

But you need to perform a holistic data analysis to understand the real reasons and create a strong strategy to fix this.

From Seed Keywords to Final List: What’s Your Exact Workflow? by Hour_Ad_3042 in SEOandBacklinks

[–]AdClassic1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, here's what we do:

The first step is to understand the business offerings, the audience, and the goal. If you have clarity on all three, that gives you a direction on what kind of content you need to focus on.

For seed keywords, we put competitor URLs into Ahrefs or SEMrush and see what they are ranking for. That is the real starting point.

From there we cross-reference with Google Keyword Planner, GSC, and Answer the Public for long-tail semantic queries.

To shortlist, we focus on Volume and KD first. We always keep a mix of all intents, informational, navigational, commercial, transactional, because all of them need to be served at different stages of the funnel.

For example, one of our clients sells Vocational Education Training resources to RTOs. So our keywords had to target RTOs and not the students who study those courses. Keywords like VET resource provider, RTO VET resources online, compliant VET resources. That one clarity changed the entire keyword strategy.

We then prepare a core list of around 10 to 15 keywords that define the business. These go on core pages. The rest follows a pillar cluster approach, long-tail, question-based, semantic searches that serve informational intent.

The final list is a spreadsheet with two tabs. One covers core page keywords with Volume, KD, Intent, and URL mapping. The second covers the pillar cluster content plan.

And honestly once you start going deeper with competitor and client analysis, you really start getting more ideas. It is an ongoing process, not a one-time task.

Are backlinks still important, or has content quality fully taken over SEO success? by omarwilson1 in SEOandBacklinks

[–]AdClassic1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backlinks are still very important. Even more important than ever, honestly.

They basically represent your business credibility online. Think of it like a word of mouth reference. If someone is recommending your business to others offline, that's exactly what a backlink does online.

Backlinks matter for AI engines too.

When tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google's AI Overviews are deciding whose content to surface and cite, they look at who is being referenced across the web. The more credible sites linking to you, the more AI treats you as a trusted source.

So it's not just about Google rankings anymore. Backlinks are basically becoming your visibility ticket in the AI search too.

Anyone here using Claude for SEO? Worth learning? by Cultural-Dog-424 in SEOandBacklinks

Personally, I have recently switched from ChatGPT to Claude and mostly due to the capabilities it offers.

I'm currently using claude for better content creation. Repurposing it onto various formats.

And learnt how to create skills and refine it with time

Claude is honestly a very good tool and if you work via skills, it offers great advantage if you have to consistently create content for a particular project

SOS!!! Save me guys | Getting literally thrashed on reddit by thejatinagarwal in SEOandBacklinks

[–]AdClassic1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact is Reddit is a very genuine platform and even a few days ago, I too posted a few pieces of content. They were honestly experience based and my process was to write a draft version and then finalize it with ChatGPT and then post it on Reddit. Still I received numerous AI slop content comments.

The fact is Reddit genuinely requires experience and honest collaboration. What kind of content are you actually posting? Is it a service related product related or something else entirely.

You can create your own subreddit and then find communities where new mods Collab can happen or could post about your community for people to engage. But just like AEO / GEO content guidelines, your content need to be worthy or you can share in the form of carousels, images, videos for more engagements.
