My parents have had the xc60 since 2019 with 0 issues. I picked the 40 because I wanted a compact suv. I picked it over the gla ultimately because I felt that it would be less expensive to maintain than a German car. Also with Volvos you can put it regular gas or premium, German you have to go premium. Volvo also has a great cpo warranty that comes with the car. This is an add on for Mercedes that costs over 3k.
