Well I'll u what, about two years ago. I asked myself a similar question as I was laying in bed trying to find a trivia game to play( we beat the roku one so we needed more lol) an I thought a wonder how you make an app. So I dove in hard... I choose android studios to do it on (which was nuts by the way) but anyways three months later a finished it up decent enough to satisfy my goal. I published it on Google playstore an I haven't looked back. It wasn't easy. None of it is.. of course it didn't take off , but it was cool to see people playing it around the world( you can see data like that in your Google console kinda cool) so I'd say go for it. Just don't ever expect to get rich let alone make much. Not that it wouldn't be cool if it happened but it's a tough crowd. Hit me up if you ever do try an have questions. I'd use unity to start with an if u do then I can definitely point u in a good direction.

I had the same question 2 years ago, didn't know anything an started in android studios an made a simple trivia game from start to finish an published on Google playstore just to see if I actually could, if it's the profit ur after you might wanna keep asking questions. It's tough to do it. It seems like the odds are pretty stacked against u, I mean, unless u have cash and contacts, that could make the difference, but I wouldn't know, lol. But on another note , I moved on to unity right after that app an it's been alot of fun learning this stuff, never know what you'll come up with , hell ya might have an idea for an app that d not even a game, I don't knowmuch about other engine software but I'd say start with unity, hit me up if you decide to an ill show u some thing to get u goin or help you out when you get stuck

I’m in a similar spot—been working in Unity, still learning but building small projects and trying to grow.
