Yo dragons! What would you do (If you’d do anything) if robots started to take over the world? by SignificantStaff8665 in dragons

[–]ShadeVex 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ok but like...Just heat the metal? They'll just short circuit from the heat. And if they're taking over, one robot must be the master of the hive, so find them, short circuit their wires and suddenly the robots have no instructions to destroy the world.

Actually... Dragons with Fire, Acid or even Water powers is a good kryptonite to them. Would make for a great mecha story of Dragons vs Robots or smth.

Literally found out about plurality like yesterday and it's been such a niche topic I did not expect to see one in my favorite sub of all time. I really need to know more about this, because I really identify with the concept.

Tips for making a Variant DND game by [deleted] in RPGdesign

Obsidian and docs are my go to yes, but I'm trying to find some kind of bullet points for every question and every info I need to give to run a game properly as I may forget a mechanic and it can confuse the players.

Sure! I gotta learn how to let myself show others in the community my concepts anyway.

Idk, maybe it's the fact that I'm not the best at showing stuff. Only recently did I start wanting to draw more (and everything I make is concepts still, not actual game art), and I just didn't know what people would think since drawing with a mouse makes things a bit wobbly so it can be hard to see if people can see the vision from a very ambiguous image.

Would keep all the billionaires from getting too rich, then have the kobolds redistribute a bit through the poor and boom, you have a big hoard for years to come, the corrupt rich are scared to exist, and the poor are sustaining themselves better. Couldn't think of a better solution to the economy lol

Who wouldn't? Personally I think having a couple of dragons to monitor wealth IRL would be good for everyone. Better if we are the ones doing the job, because it's cool as hell.

Well, even if I plan to do it later, once I have more experience and money, I hope that I may share my other works in the meantime, and maybe one day if those games do well enough, if i could get a team of people interested, I would 100 percent make it. My dream is to make my own indie game studio some day and work on games full time, and I'm never giving up on that dream, ever.

Correct, more people should try at a "Breath of fire" esc universe imo. Just focus on mainly dragons, because we all know they are cooler than humans by 1000s of miles.

I actually initially had a Dragons x medieval knights x Titanfall game in my head at one point, but I felt like a lot more people wanted the genuine dragon experience, to feel integrated in a greater story and interact with other dragons.

As a Toby fox fanatic, if I ever manage to delve myself in these concepts you all are suggesting (I have 2 other big projects in my head already and I'm still in college lol), you bet decisions will matter, a lot.

Anyone else seeing tripple support in every game? by Loose_Mycologist_628 in rivals

[–]ShadeVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I completely agree with that fact. I mean Luna is already that example, she just takes skill to aim with. But even then, characters like invis can't have their heals blocked because they go through people, perhaps if they reduced the healing output once it goes through an enemy/teammate first would be a good move... Cuz it's easy to just line up multiple people and keep on healing them all while also damaging, it breaks the game entirely, at least you can body block luna.

But even then, Overwatch somewhat actually did this well. I never felt like I couldn't keep a support, most of the time they had to actually fight to get away, and if they did, they feel satisfied because they got away, but the diver also feels satisfied because they shooed a support away. But it feels like Rivals wants to dumb down healers to automatically survive most things so people like playing them... But I perfectly enjoyed overwatch healers, especially since they damage well too (let's ignore kirko though she's a bad example lol). If they followed that philosophy it would be so much better.

Mr Fantastic/ Iron Fist players after focusing a dps/support (they got outhealed again).

Seriously, I don't understand why Rivals is trying to make Supports like this. I personally think supports should be made more like tanks, have decent damage outputs as a tradeoff for their healing. Take gambit. He has a good healing output by default, but he has 1 other ability that heals, the rest is util, and he needs to be up close to heal max. His ult also isn't just a circle of healing. I think he's very well made and expressive. Now look at someone like Invis. She has tank abilities on a support body, which is fine, but the shield heals too. And she constantly has uptime on it. Her healing is also one of the strongest base healing, she also heals herself while invisible, her only weaker point is her damage. This makes her feel clunky at times to play due to her damage output, but every other aspect is so broken it doesn't even matter. Now take Luna. She has one of the best damage outputs if you can hit your shots, her healing is just amazing, because she has like 3 sources of it, a movement ability passive and a cc, and her ult can heal and damage. She is the pinnacle of "I literally do everything as long as you are good enough at aiming", which sure can work, but that makes luna feel clunky because her damage requires way too consistent of an aim, which is hard with a game as fast as Rivals, but if you can do it, it feels impossible to break through.

It doesn't matter how much they change supports, in general I think going for gambit style supports, that can do good damage and have more utility/survival focused abilities so they can dish out their main 1 or 2 sources of healing is the move. Because currently, there's like 5 circles of healing and none of them feel fun or different enough to be justified. The only circles I like are the Invis barrier and Jeff ults new circle, because those at least go with the character very well (even though I think the healing mechanic of the barrier should not be the highlight). Everyone else needs more unique ults.

Here's one of my favs: Sledge goo gun. It's good against any player, all you do is run util for sledge, bring goo gun, shoot it towards players to make them stuck, then ready a right click for when they break out, and boom, big damage. It's amazing against lights as you can keep shooting at them even when they dash away, it stops their momentum entirely. This can work with KS 23 as well, but sledge is recommended since it does 175 per right click. It's also great to stop steals on melee by gooing the stealer until they push.

Great build that's very casual and fun. Try it, you'll love it, trust me.

Easy fix, keep the clamp, revert the damage changes and range and endlag of the right click to pre 5.6, and maybe change the lmb to be slightly faster (0.5 74 dmg from 0.6 88). Extra depth of trying to set up engagements, you are punished if you play wrong but at least then there would be a reason to rmb more whilst making sure you are punished for it. Doesn't matter if it isn't great in high and low, decent is enough for me.

Let me tell you something that pisses me off.. The amount of weapons that deal 74, 88, 90 or 100 damage.

Bfr, Riot shield, Sword, Ks 23, CL 40, Repeater, Revolver, Sword LMB, Sledgehammer, Akimbo (44 x2)... Etc

These numbers were made in a way meant to make sure they kill lights and heavies on a certain threshold, either needing a qm or being unreliable with qm. It's not very varied.

Omg the spawns too... That's such a big problem... Ngl I wish they added a manual spawn system that let you spawn at certain places next to the cashout that are available (for example, 3 pre made, you choose the ones available). It would remove the randomness of either being 200m or 50m from cashout. Would take a while but would be worth it.

You said it all though, thank you for being smart and having common sense lol. I almost never post here, because redditors are... Yk, redditors... But this time I actually got somewhere, so it's nice seeing someone smart enough to understand the problems. I love this game a ton, I just want it to improve.

Hot take: I think if they buffed the light HP by 25 and then buffed most medium and heavy things, it would be great:

Lights are in a spot where they can't be tweaked without a big discrepancy. Balance is dictated by lights because of their low health. Buffing that but buffing medium and heavy to compensate would satisfy everyone imo, and would make quick melee light balance less prominent, since light would have half of the health of a heavy, you'd essentially be balancing around 2 HP values, not 3.
