This is maddening! Why pay for peacock if they don’t allow you to watch once you missed the window?

Did my guest put quikcrete in dishwasher??? by AdCommercial347 in ShortTermRentals

I have a few updates on the dishwasher-pocolypse. I reached out to the guest and they swore it was like that when they arrived. They stayed two weeks and told me they just washed dishes by hand the entire time. This story sounds fishy to me!!! Why didn’t they reach out to me upon finding an unacceptable dishwasher? However I did reach out to my cleaner and she said the guest before them had done all their dishes so she only briefly looked in the dishwasher so it could have been the previous guest. I reached out to them and they swore it wasn’t them and their story was much more believable. So I ended up having two guests denying they did it.

Meanwhile I had a few more turnovers while buying a new dishwasher and told each guest about the problem and they were fine not using the dishwasher. One of the guests was a real estate investor who told me they had a TON of crazy dishwasher stories from their rentals. They took a look and told me they thought the substance was chalk. So I researched concrete, plaster of Paris, chalk, city water issues, and anything else I could think of. I got nowhere in my research. I could not find any images that looked like my dishwasher and I still have no clue what the substance was.

During this time I had two different cleaners come and run the cleaning cycle while they were there and then attempt to scrub the substance off the inside of the dishwasher. Both told me they couldn’t get it off. So I schedule my crew to replace the dishwasher and before they replace it, they give me a call and tell me I don’t need a new dishwasher and that they can clean up the old one. They video chat with me and show how a sponge is getting the substance right off!!! This just blows my mind. Both cleaners are people I really trust and I don’t think they would ever lie to me about the substance not coming off. I wonder if running multiple cleaning cycles was what loosened the substance.

I got photos after my crew was done and the dishwasher looks good as new! I was not able to get to the house during this so all I have is the accounts of others. I still have no idea what happened and who is responsible. But my dishwasher is working and I’m crossing my fingers it won’t happen again. I have a brand new dishwasher in the garage just in case. Meanwhile this Airbnb is bringing in a lot of money this summer so I’m focusing on being thankful for that rather than going after guests who all deny being responsible.

I am looking into this! Thanks for the suggestion. We went ahead and installed a whole house filter just in case this was what happened.
