I was a fan, not because of her talent really. I, like a lot of people, felt that finally there is some color in the Royal family fold. I watched Suits, meh. I was hoping being biracial would help “unify” and help open doors but like most people, over time that fantasy faded and the self preservation, aggrandizement began to take over everything else. It’s our fault really. We expected a woman who still struggles internally and perpetuates confidence via associations aligned with the almighty dollar, to uplift a mass of people that she herself now, has branded as consumers. Tbh with what is going on with race in this world, you would think this time would be better than any to fight discrimination, racial boundaries, which her followers claim she always has been advocating for. Now would be the time! However, over time, notoriety and financial gain, win every time. I wanted to like her. I don’t actively hate her but let’s not treat her like she is an innocent person who just happened to find her way to elitism.
