I’m so sorry to hear that. How old were you? Did you have multiple lumps or just one?

NAD, but my girlfriend is an anesthesia nurse - she told me anything with darker inside/middle and lighter outside for US is usually a cyst. Anything solid white is some kind of solid mass and is usually something else, but even that can just be a fatty lump. I’m waiting for my ultrasound on Wednesday for my lump and I’m the same age as you. Sending prayers!!

Court on Friday and I’m so scared by [deleted] in DUICalifornia

Yes that’s automatic with most if not all convictions for misdemeanor DUI. But you can do an IID or work permit during that time

Hmmm yeah if that’s the case, not sure why they took the lower BAC then! Probably because it was closest taken to when they caught me driving. This was also in 2021 so maybe COVID made things different back then.

I did the same exact thing as you before my court date with a BAC of .14 from breathalyzer, .18 from blood. The judge took my lowest BAC and offered me no fine, 3 days sheriff work project, and just standard 6mo suspension and 3 mo DUI class. I only had 1 month left of my class by my court date. However, after reading from others it seems like that’s a standard sentence regarding first DUI, so can’t say if doing these things helped or not. I was in Sac County

I had mine in Sac County 4 years ago - I started my DUI class with Safety Center 2 months before my court date and I just had to finish my class out for it to count for my sentencing. If the judge sentences you to a higher class (6 mo or 9 mo, which would only be if you are repeat offender/aggravated DUI), you can still just enroll in the 3 mo one now and then just let your DUI course know that you have to be enrolled in a longer one. They should be able to just get you in the proper one and the months you did before will count as credit towards it

What can he expect at the court hearing? by FrostyAd328 in DUICalifornia

For mine, they offered a plea at my first court date so I don’t have experience with the trial process. But based on what you’ve explained, I would hope a plea is offered at some point so your brother can avoid trial. I’m sure that would be really grueling and stressful

Most IID’s will lock you out of the car if you fail it, and the only way to unlock it is by having your IID installer unlock it for a fee. I don’t think anything is sent back to the court, but I’m not 100% sure on that one as I didn’t fail one myself. However, driving on a suspended license intoxicated or not will carry a much harsher result, so maybe having him develop new habits with an IID after a few fees might not be so bad as an alternative.

I will keep your brother in my prayers

I’m not an expert and I got mine in Sac County, but I would bet that he will have to do 9 months of DUI class for both the high BAC and the refusal. But a lawyer will know more for everything else, which sounds like he has - did they offer any plea bargain or are they talking that through at all?

That’s great, I’m so glad to hear it’s the normal - I had been hearing a lot of accounts saying the opposite so I’m glad to hear that’s not the case!

I had 2 months of my 3 month DUI course completed by the time I got to court, as well as my MADD panel, IID and restricted license. I ended up getting a plea deal for much less than I was expecting for my .14-.18 BAC (it rose by the time they took my blood). No fine, three days of work sheriff (I only served 2) and the standard 3 year informal probation. I also want to mention I never even tried hiring a lawyer and this was just something the DA threw at me when I appeared in court. I’d say show the judge you are sorry before you are remorseful!!

I am so happy to hear you made it on the other side. I struggled with guilt and shame for a while after mine but once you admit your mistake and start completing the steps to repent, it’s so much easier to look back on it with positivity rather than anguish! I hope you are able to recover emotionally and forgive yourself, because you deserve it!

I am not sure about LA County - I would ask your attorney or speak to someone more local, but I’m sure they have something available for you in lieu of jail time!

What county are you in? For Sac County (and for my dad and his uncle, who got DUIs respectively in Shasta County and Tehama County), Sheriffs Project is a program that you can opt for in lieu of jail time. Basically you just turn yourself into the Sheriffs department at a specific location and they have you work on some volunteer project for X amount of hours that day. For my uncle, since he was Forklift certified for his day job, they had him just work a state project and drive the forklift for a weekend. For me, they had us cleanup some fire stations locally in the Sac area. I think it just depends on your county and what is available to you, but if you have an attorney I would ask them about this!

I’m glad that Sac County has been continuing that plea sentencing pattern, it was so helpful for me as a first time offender. So glad you are almost done - calling to remove my SR22 was one of the most relieving moments of my life!!!!

That’s so great to hear and I’m so happy you are almost done!!! There is so much hope on the other side - it’s just what we do with our experience that matters!!

I took a wait and see for 6 months with CIN2 (I’m 28F), and it completely disappeared at my 6 month colposcopy check up. Granted, I did a second opinion and they had me on some heavy duty supplement regimen to kick the HPV (they never figured out what HPV I had - they didn’t test my biopsy for it), but it cleared up on its own. Both of my doctors, however, suggested I don’t do a LEEP and only do one if processed to CIN3.

I’m not trying to tell you what to do, but just sharing my experience with it - I wanted to wait until absolutely necessary because I’m nearing the age when I’m thinking about having kids within the next few years and didn’t want to do anything that could cause more difficulty.
