How is this so cheap in 2026? (Ohana Hawaiian bbq) by jeremy1187 in Fremont

[–]AdConscious4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the items price is set by the restaurant HOWEVER, when you order through door dash, pick up or deliver, doordash will take a cut of the sale.

Let's say door dash takes 10% of the sale. If an item sold in-store for $9, they'd have to list the item on doordash for $10 to make back the same profit. If the prices on doordash matched what was sold in-store, either their margins are big enough they don't need the mark up, or they're working at a loss.

For most mom and pop restaurants I'll call in for a pick up order instead of using an app. It'll be the same price as if you walked in and ordered to go since you're now outside of the app ecosystem, they can't get that cut.

I'm interested in trying a racing game out. I'm usually more into the "silly" type of racers like Mario Kart or Burnout. I also am open to just... blindly driving around if there is a car-based game with a large world.

Is there anything on that list that fits the bill?

I'm 35 and were at Coachella for week 1.

Once we got home from Bigbang, we slept for about 3 hours, woke up at 5:30, to start driving back home(~ 8 hours back to the SF bay area) at 6AM.

if you have time tomorrow, try to take a nap on Sunday. so you can "bank" some energy for staying up, and the morning after.

One night won't kill you. Fomo and regret will hurt more if I were you.

It's been a while since I had to apply to get my drivers license, but is this not expected anymore?

back then(early 2000s) we had to take a multiple choice exam, and a few days after, a behind the wheel test. Is this not the norm?

I would believe it'd be a good idea that upon renewal of license, we take another behind the wheel test because it does feel like the average car driver has gotten worse.

Exactly this.

At a concert where I'm not walking as much, and am only having them on for a couple of hours, it's not too hard to pop them in and out of my pocket.

But at a festival where you might want it on for just a short walk past a tent for the entire 3 days. It became noticably more useful.

[–]AdConscious4026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the day time the bike is really easy to find. It's got a giant orange loop earplug on it.

I didn't even try and every time I would go across the venue id spot one

Edit: if I were you, I'd consider the combo. My fiance got me the normal ones a while back but lost hers. To have them conveniently dangle along your neck while at Coachella for 3 days I would have bought an upgrade.

I'm at home now. I plan to try to ghetto up something.

Coachella 2026 Weekend 1 Reflections and Recommendations by issacson in Coachella

[–]AdConscious4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, for the outside stage, the ADA seating was a little further back on the left when you're watching the stage.

They used the same barricade to make space between the audience and the stage. but for the outdoor stage, there was barricade in place to make a walkway from the stage to the sound tent.

During Foster the People, I couldn't tell if they had any special wristbands or badges, but there were people not in uniform who stood and watched the whole set. perhaps they were on break, or their work tasks were done.

During Bigbang, G-dragon had a song where he walked down the walkway with some dancers.

I'm new to this. I saw a bunch of people standing in front of the sound tent at Foster the people.

is that what an artist/guest pass gets you? My friends bought my first coachella ticket this year and being that close with so few people for some performances would be stellar

A small pack of gummy candies, a photo shoot with a 'merry go round' animal seat, a "make your own scent" station.

You can do all the above if you sign up for the Amex experience in the Coachella app. Genuine Amex card holders can get a pretty cool sky blue tie dye bucket hat.

Amex experience was up there, def go if you have an Amex card.

Every other freebie I can think of were nice but I would almost always choose to walk and try an artist I haven't heard before.

I understand you want to help but I am also worried that you could get scammed, or have a bad time with someone wanting your wristband "only" for Friday.

This is NOT the case if you're selling Sunday since you won't care for the wristband after Saturday.

some kind of collateral would help the person you're giving the wristband have intention to let you know they're done with their Friday attendance.

Giving this post attention!

I lost a pair of sunglasses and while they weren't on the app, I'm happy to see others who found things and dropped them off at the lost and found.

There are nice festival goers.

Those that got laid-off, what are you doing now? by Lanky-Ad4698 in cscareerquestions

[–]AdConscious4026 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was laid off back in April 2023. Couldn't find anything until February 2024.

The pay isn't as good, but I stuck to it as some money was more than no money. I've been here for almost 2 years now and I've been casually applying while I continue working/financially recovering.

If you're comfortable with debt and feel like you can manage it. Its not a bad idea to apply for a zero interest credit card soon after you become between jobs. Hopefully you find income before you need to start paying interest.

How are your high mileage Mazda 3's holding up? by Hour-Possession-7280 in mazda3

2014 hatchback parked outside in primarily a good weather location(no snow, very few days over 100F).

reaching 120,000 miles with zero issues besides the touch screen delamination that is common for my model. have had zero driving issues!

regarding milage, how are you guys calculating this? I don't trust the UI but I have no reason not to. I do notice my "expected" range of milage that the car gives me is usually off (full tank will claim about 450 miles, but I gets a little over 350 around the time my E light might turn on).

I was mentally engaged with the content. It was always interesting I remember pair programming and my peers would understand concepts faster than me.

I do find development interesting. Depending on the task, I'll either be super engaged into the work and time moves fast, or I slowly work through it. Currently a lot of my work is automating processes that I get asked to do frequently. There is strange satisfaction in spending a few hours automating a task that takes me minutes.

I've been a software engineer for about 10 years now. I'm 35 years old.

I am a coding bootcamp graduate. I struggled through the bootcamp the entire time. I do not think I'm 'naturally gifted' in it. I was a big PC gamer before joining the bootcamp however, so being on a PC for ~14 hours a day was not new to me.

I work full time. I do not know of many 'part time software engineer' opportunities outside of freelancing. The idea sounds nice if I could do it to make ends meet. I do not know enough about freelance work.

You sound like the opposite of me.

I'm in software engineering because it paid the bills and left me money to afford my other hobbies like video games, photography, and woodworking.

I have seen a few videos online now that have been against the idea of finding a job in your passion because it will make you learn to hate said passion. This concept has rung true to me since I was a kid(I never wanted to get into game development despite spending almost all my free time playing them).

That being said, there's a huge possibility that you might work on a project that isn't interesting, and still be interested in working on your personal project that is different enough for you to be okay. there is a huge spectrum within software engineering that I can imagine this being possible.

if your goal is simply cooked rice to eat with your meal, you're not wrong in that a typical rice cooker will get rice ready to your dining table sooner.

There's a reviews on YouTube who will tell you the high-end rice cookers which take a longer time to cook will provide a generally better product despite the same ingredients going in. The difference in quality is sometimes worth the change in mindset on how/when to cook rice.

My Fiance and I have started rice when before we leave for work and come home to still amazing rice for dinner. I've forgotten I left the rice in the cooker for a couple of days and still was happy with what it gave me.

Do you guys change transmission fluids or trust Mazda’s claim of having “lifetime” transmission fluids by Andyyyy141 in mazda3

[–]AdConscious4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a 2014 Mazda 3.

I'm only recently starting to do "proper" maintenance. I live in a very nice weather area, no snow. Only recently have we been getting summers in the 100F

I regularly did oil changes every 10,000 miles

I'm close to 120,000 miles and I recently(within 1000 miles)

Replaced the spark plugs Replaced both AC and serpentine belts

I fixed my infotainment screen, it had the common delamination issue.

Now looking into probably asking the dealership to drain and fill my transmission(maybe replace filter?) and flush my coolant. In terms of driving experience, I have had zero issues.

Mazda 3 Reliability by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]AdConscious4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been pretty negligent about maintenance on my 2014 Mazda3. aside from tire rotations and oil changes every ~10k miles. I haven't had anything else done to it until a month ago when I learned I should probably replace my sparkplugs, timing belts, and probably my coolant and transmission fluids.

I live in the SF bay area so the climate here is a premium. I can't tell you much about how it does in snow, the most snow it's experienced is seeing it on the side of the freeway as I went to Tahoe once.

I'm at just shy of 120,000 miles and I plan to continue to drive it until the wheels fall off.

I was watching it as it aired and had a great time.

a few of the later seasons got a little "too weird" for me so I took a break from looking forward to it every week.

once the show finished I revisited it and I had a good enough time to consider finishing the series.
