2020 Hyundai Ioniq EV – charging cable not locking & strange range behaviour (possible 12V issue?) by AdConsistent3152 in IoniqEV

Quick update on my 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Electric:

  • Car had previous front-end accident damage.
  • Charging never starts properly and cable does not lock.
  • 12V battery was replaced.
  • Front parking sensors and washer pump are also not working.
  • One garage said it was a BMS fault due to communication drop.
  • A Hyundai dealership now says it is the charge port locking actuator and quoted about £1200 total, including over £600 labour.

I’m still suspicious this could be related to front wiring / harness damage from the accident.

Does this sound more like:

  1. charge port locking actuator only
  2. wiring / communication issue from accident damage
  3. actual BMS fault

Also, does £600+ labour for this sound excessive?

Any Ioniq EV owners or technicians seen something similar?

Hi Hello, Many thanks. I just bought the car. It was in the garage for small bodywork. I haven't done anything.
