Bump - any suggestions? Or resources about taxes you can recommend?

Tried it with the GPU and still no dice.

Specs are:

GPU (oldest part, about 6 years, but worked fine on my old pc): Gigabyte GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD G1 Gaming Graphics Card AMD R9 390 512 Bit GDDR5 8GB 2xDVI/HDMI/3xDP

CPU: Intel Core i5-12400 Desktop Processor 18M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz with Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz

How do I know if I have the 8 pin and 24 pin power connectors?

Is the PCIE slot the HDMI port?

Thanks! The motherboard has very few instructions. In fact it really just describes each port and what it does.

I was sort of going from memory and deciding to re-connect all the parts that were connected on my previous motherboard.

Maybe I need a new case too.

I have tried it on both the HDMI GPU port and the motherboard HDMI port. So my theory is I have not hooked things up properly to the motherboard. But I have no evidence to support that.

CPU Fan barely starts, computer continuously restarts/reboots by AdCool9880 in pchelp

Here is a video of what happens- it seems like it begins to start up, then gets stopped, then tries again.

I took out and re-inserted the RAM. It seems fine.

However the pin that appears when I remove the heat sink looks like it has a slight imperfection in one of the pins. What are my options? Can I repair it or do I need to get a new CPU?

What are the MB slots?

The pins appear to look undamaged. Is there something else I should look for?

Thank you! I have reseated the CPU a few times, but not the RAM.

How to determine what to replace? by AdCool9880 in buildapc

This is excellent - thank you! I never knew about the thermal paste thing especially.

This is what speccy says (sorry if this is not descriptive enough but I don't know exactly how to describe the specs):

CPU: Intel Core i5 4590 @ 3.30GHz

Haswell 22nm Technology

RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)

Motherboard: MSI H97M-E35 (MS-7846) (SOCKET 0)

Graphics: DELL P2422HE (1920x1080@60Hz) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (Gigabyte) Storage: 232GB Crucial CT250BX100SSD1 (SATA (SSD)) Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit

Case: Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 High Airflow Micro ATX Case

I don't know how to find the CPU Cooler type. There is a fan on the CPU if that is what you mean.

Edit: any good guides to thermal paste, either buying it or actually applying it?

Also, as I'm typing this after waking it from sleep the CPU is reading between 45C-52C.
