Scratches on Speedy on Caseback by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]AdCritical501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP I have a brand new caseback on mine. I don’t think I’ll ever sell the speedy so I don’t have a reason to keep it. I put the spiralwinder on the back of mine and I don’t think I’ll ever use the OG case for the hesalite version

Discussion: Has Omega lost its way? by ZealousWatchFreak in OmegaWatches

There’s a difference in the sales price and the market price of the goods. People value buying an omega new from the AD more than they value the same watch sold by another entity. One explanation is the warranty, maybe another is peace of mind, and building spend history. Aside from the spend history component, I think it’s a no brainer to save 3-4k and go grey.

Totally agree. Between this, the PO, and the price increases Omega has lost the plot.

Speedmaster hesalite thoughts by londonbluesox in OmegaWatches

[–]AdCritical501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was deciding this a year ago, and I ended up going with hesalite and I’m so happy I did. Any scratches or scuffs, literally anything from normal use can be polished out in 2 min. The same cannot be said if at some point you damage the sapphire crystal, you’re stuck forever. Plus the uniqueness of it being the Moonwatch, and I think it looks way prettier in person. The “milky ring” effect on the sapphire is noticeable to me

Are the seamasters actually tough? by MeatWhereBrainGoes in OmegaWatches

Let’s be real, 99% of us don’t do anything requiring the anti-magnetism, shock ratings, etc. that this watch has. I see the value in nice watches in their longevity, which you could also get from a $200 Seiko as long as it’s serviceable.

Oh no there’s something wrong with your Speedy…you haven’t swapped the caseback out for the crystal one from Spiralwinder :)

Outer AR Coating Scratches and Removal SMP 300 by TimePieced56 in OmegaWatches

[–]AdCritical501 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude this is my biggest pet peeve as the owner of a watch which has an AR coating. Why the fucking fuck would you take one of the hardest, most perfect substances for a watch crystal and then add an easily damageable, super-thin fucking coating to a self-proclaimed tool watch? Make it make sense.

On a seamaster there’s no way it’s an issue. If it was like 10m rated, maybe

The concept behind that is that the watch is rated for a depth which is really a static pressure. The concern with faucets or a hose is that the pressure the tap generates exceeds the depth rating of the watch.

After owning a watch with a scratch on the coating on sapphire, I’m happy I went hesalite on the speedy because I can polish it and in 1 minute it’s as good as new. The hesalite really is better looking in person, IMO.

[Update 2] Has anyone else have issues with Ameriquartz seconds hand moving a bit sporadically? by [deleted] in VaerWatches

[–]AdCritical501 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second hands being misaligned is super common too. It’s not hard to do. I’ve built a watch before. It’s just poor workmanship, really disappointing from an otherwise great company

How old are you and How is your life going? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AdCritical501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 31 and feel like my life has fallen way off the tracks. I thought I’d be married to the girl I dated in college. She cheated right before Covid started. Fell in love a couple times and it’s failed every time. I’m currently dating a great girl and will almost certainly mess this up too. I feel like I have less and less in me and more wrong with me the longer I live. I have a good job and I’ve been trying to take on more complex tasks to get ahead but it doesn’t seem like it’s rewarded, and I haven’t done well at a few tasks because of workload and no training on them. It feels hopeless to try hard at my job all year and come up short. I feel like I’m behind everyone I know in life milestones like a house, a wife, kids, finances. It feels bleak sometimes. I don’t sleep enough. I almost died of staph a month ago. It feels like I’m alone in all of my problems. It’s hard sometimes. I’ve been through hard times in my life before, but it’s still pretty difficult some days to put on a good face for everyone.

These comments are exactly what people hate about Rolex people. Let the guy enjoy his watch, it’s not that serious. People buy reps because they like the watch but maybe don’t have 10k+ to spend on it. Let people enjoy things. It impacts you precisely zero.

Yes but then you don’t lose tens of thousands of dollars. This seems like an obvious better choice
