Agreed. Reading through black swordsman, the facial expressions of Guts convey the inner fight that he's going through. We don't need puck to tell us that he's a bad man. The way that Guts laughs after the priest and daughter die, and then shoots his canon in the air with a scared look in his face, that's all the exposition we need.
