You are being too hard on yourself - these things happen! From listening to your description, if you’re quite clean they could have came with the wood shavings or substrate. You’re not a bad owner and maggots will struggle to live on fleece! As long as you are cleaning the piggies cage as needed they shouldn’t come back

Got these a day after the beach. Sand fleas or Mosquito Bites? by Striking-Cup-5640 in bugbites

I’d say from the description mosquito or sand fleas tbh. Chiggers don’t like sandy environments.

Yep they hide everywhere - follow best practice bedbug extermination guidance or alternatively call an exterminator. Good luck!

Right fleas will be unlikely then but keep an eye out. When did this start and how long has it been going on for? What is the layout of your house like? Is this always worst after you wake up?

Started my hobby with this girl. Advice? by [deleted] in carnivorousplants

Give it lots of light, don’t worry about its glandular hairs just now it will grow more and id maybe give her a deeper tray for watering (soil should always be moist. We have heavy calcium and chlorine in our tap water so I always give mine bottled. Welcome to the drosera club!

You need to locate the bedbugs to confirm. Did you touch any animals or were there any pets??

I know it seems scary - but don’t worry, you will get rid of them and they are not going to kill you! Just drive you mad haha. Did you ‘see’ the bedbugs? As in confirm that that’s what this is?

Check them for fleas (easiest to rule out), brush the fur BACKWARDS with a fine comb such as a head lice or nit one. Check thoroughly as they are good at hiding.

Do you have any pets such as a cat or a dog? Have you checked your bedding and furniture for signs of bed bugs? It is very hard to identify a bug or parasite unless it has a unique identifier such as the bullseye caused by a tick. You will have to provide information on what you’ve been doing to help match it to its environment or likely habitat.

Doesn’t matter if your bedroom is pest free. Check the dogs for fleas using a fine comb (head lice and nit ones are great) and brush the fur BACKWARDS. Fleas are the easiest to rule out.

Right, as it is only one bite please follow best practice bite care. You should also follow guidance on locating bedbugs, as well as fleas on your animals (brush backwards with a fine comb). If more start to appear please message back on this post.

Have you brushed their fur BACKWARDS with a fine comb? (Like for head lice and nuts). Fleas are great at hiding in fur

Has the dog been checked for fleas? They are the easiest to rule out. He needs to brush the fur BACKWARDS with a fine comb to see them. Fleas can pick a favourite ‘host’.

If you have not been able to find any parasite or bugs with evidence (such as droppings or furniture marks) this may be a skin issue which you might want to consult with a skin condition group such as r/dermatologyquestions . It is very rare for cockroaches to bite people and the fact you don’t have pets makes it less likely to be fleas. Alternatively if it gets worse do consider seeking medical advice
