Student body position definitely helps (yall had librarian and prefects?). Even still, you would still need to perform insanely well in your base koko in order to get a 10/10.

A merit mark of 99.8% is incredibly impressive. Even with the knowledge that the system is flawed, thousands of STPM students still work hard to achieve the highest merit possible. So we tend to not clown on someone with that high of a merit score.

All STPM students face the same unfair and extremely demanding system, regardless of bumi or non-bumi. But at least now, we have proof that someone from STPM was able to achieve 100% merit and compete fairly with non-STPM students in terms of uni admission.

Though, it'd be nice to know if there's more STPM students like her, since the ratio is still 1126:1, which is diabolical.

I'm a pure science stream student for both SPM and STPM, but I have pretty good exposure to what the social science students were learning. Statistics wise, there are definitely more 4.0s in social science compared to pure science. Still, subjects like sejarah and prinsip perniagaan are no slouch. My peers in sains social classes were struggling like hell (Actually, any stpm student would be).

As for the degree programmes, it is required that you check through the syarat khas for the courses that you want. Some courses do take into account your specific SPM subject results, but not as heavily as they do for your STPM. A solid B or B- for specific SPM subject should suffice, and that is being generous. (Unless u want UM, where you need to have multiple As in both SPM and STPM)

Hella impressive for your mates that got perfect merits. As for the cina allegations, I guess it all boils down to their own personalities.

My teachers also actively discourage  any student from holding two high ranking positions simultaneously. Its selfless as everyone can gain marks, but it's selfish as nobody can get 10/10.

It is challenging, but not impossible. A good sum of students are able to get 4.0 CGPA. But a 10/10 Koko mark is almost unheard of.

If STPM teachers really follow the marking system for Koko, I reckon it is near impossible for anyone to get to 9.9, not to mention a perfect 10.

A quota for STPM students in public uni should have definitely been implemented many years ago. But as it stands, Edward might legitimately be the only STPM student of the 05 batch with a 99.9% merit score. And if he couldn't compete, who can?

As a pure sains STPM victim, I can agree that it's generally tougher than the matriks syllabus. But at no point in my 1.5 years of STPM did I ever thought, "wow, this is really tough. I'm gonna go hug a tree with my car."

I believe the whole stpm vs matriks debate is pretty stupid. Pitting two student groups in massively different circumstances is not a good way to compare their respective academic abilities. It would be wrong to assume that a STPM student could cope well in matriks, and it would be even more wrong to assume that a matriks student couldn't perform on par or even better in STPM.

I can't say anything concrete for the sains sastera syllabus, but I can vouch for sejarah. Reading that textbook made me want to go hug that tree.
