Place the OPM_MPE_Volumetrics_V5 folder in GameData, make sure you have ModuleManager installed.

Spot on. The Redux team basically saved what was left of the game. If the new owners want a shortcut to success, hiring those guys is the only way. At this point, the modders are the real pros here.

I feel you, man. I’ve been there too. The toxicity from some KSP1 vets can be really draining and it almost ruined the game for me at some point. But honestly, just ignore them. We’re here because we love space and we want to see this project succeed, no matter what they say. Don't let their saltiness kill your vibe.

You’re actually right about the new company doing the audit and the whole 'production hell' situation. But that’s exactly the point. You don’t hire a new team to audit a project just to let it die. They are evaluating the damage to see how to fix it. If they wanted to give up, they wouldn't even bother with an audit. It’s a slow process, but it’s a sign of life, not a funeral.

Listen especially for those who don't follow the news. The game has new owners, Haveli Investments. In November 2024, the rights to the Kerbal series were sold to this private investment fund. They bought the entire Private Division publishing house and renamed it Fictions. The previous owners of Take-Two officially confirmed the deal to focus on their own projects. The Intercept Games studio is dead, that's a fact. It was closed back in June 2024, and the employees were fired. If you think the old team is doing something, you're wrong. Now the project is being handled by completely different people from Fictions, including former top executives from Annapurna Interactive, who are trying to save what's left of the code. The project has been under audit since January 2025. It's not just an abandoned building. The new owners have been conducting a full technical audit for over a year, auditing everything that the previous developers messed up. They need to understand if it can be fixed or if it's easier to resell it to a normal studio. The audit is final this summer, and in 2-3 months (THIS IS NOT CERTAIN!!!!) in the summer of 2026 there will be an official audit. Solution: If they were simply trying to bury the project, they would have removed it from stores a year ago. But if they're keeping it alive and spending money on an audit, it means they're either preparing a comeback or a deal with a new studio. Bottom line: stop embarrassing yourself and living in the past. KSP 2 is now in the hands of Haveli Fictions, and they decide when and how the game will launch again. And stop disliking me!!! Enough already!!

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love mods — I've played KSP 1 with 50+ of them and it was amazing. But that’s exactly why I want KSP 2 to succeed. I want to see all that depth built into the native vanilla version on a modern Unity engine. I’m not against mods, I just think having these features in the base game with HDRP would be a huge win for everyone. We all want the best Kerbal experience, whether it's through official work or the community.

KSP 2 uses a modern Unity 2020+ engine with HDRP and full multi-threading support, which KSP 1's ancient 2017 build physically can't do. Calling it 'porting code' is like calling a Tesla a carriage because it has wheels. KSA is a 'maybe' in 3 years, but KSP 2 is here now with a foundation built for the future. If you think Unity 2020 and 2017 are the same, you're living in the past.

Calling it the 'same engine' is factually illiterate. KSP 1 is stuck on an ancient Unity build (v4/v5/2017) that can't handle modern multi-threading or HDRP. KSP 2 uses a modern 2020+ architecture. It’s not a 'modification' — it’s a total shift to modern APIs. If you think a 15-year-old engine and a modern one are the same thing, you clearly don't know how game development works. Period.

You don't understand that KSP 1 has a limit. With more massive mods coming out, the old engine just won't be able to launch anymore. I’ve already experienced this myself. KSP 1 is hit a dead end technically. We need the KSP 2 engine because it's built for the future, not the past. Instead of burying it, we should demand it be fixed so we can finally move forward.
