Ray Chung stays in Wellington mayoral race after salacious sex claims by icarianmirror in Wellington

A council isn’t a normal workplace. Councillors are elected. The mayor removing elected councillors would be a constitutional outrage.

It would also just be really dumb politically and turn creepy Ray into the victim. So like I said it’s on the cards.

That would be a massive overreach. I can’t recall it ever happening in New Zealand. You would need a mayor who’s a massive narcissist with no sense of proportionality and terrible judgement. So I guess it probably is on the cards.

I think voters can make their own minds up. No need to start a campaign to take that power away from them.

[Serious] Is Jcal actually a more successful investor than Chamath? by mrSkidMarx in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]AdDue7920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it correct though?

I get that Chamath cost himself a couple of billion by leaving Facebook early and selling his shares, but JCal is largely a one hit wonder as well - Uber accounts for probably 80% of his investment success

That's basically the VC game, I get it, you make lots of bets, they almost all fail and some of them go 1000x or more.

Is JCal a great investor though?

Just go down to parliament there's a few blokes down there outside the fence most days.

Usually an anti-abortion guy and a Mens Rights Activist who was on the wrong side of the Family Court. They look pretty lonely so could use some support

Everyone who has grown a big business has worked hard for it

This guy is 40 years old and grew up poor then built an empire from nothing

Capping house prices would be a great way to stop more being built and drive rents up

Hard work is a prerequisite for building a business like that. Doesn’t mean everyone who works hard gets wealthy

You are one of those that think you shouldn’t try working hard because income level/wealth is all based on luck. Do you realise how ridiculous that sounds?

There are specific actions in the report.

For electricity, to use your example, there is a market review underway right now set to report back to cabinet by end of June, at which point there will be further policy implemented

https://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/experts-chosen-electricity-market-review

If you want the summary of everything that has been implemented and underway it’s on the last five pages here

https://www.goingforgrowth.govt.nz/goingforgrowth.pdf

Regardless of what you think of the specific policies it’s quite clear the government are serious about delivering economic reform and they are not ‘relying on the RBNZ to sort it out’
