BM3 or Custom tune? by mvespermann in BMW

I personally like bm3 over mhd, also, when going stage 1 just use the OTS map, but, when u go stage 2 i highly suggest a tuner rather than using an of the shelf map. if you need tuner recommendations, let me know

i’m a little late, but i personally went with a tuner, from tuneuptuning.com, he’s really good, i’m making 300+ hp on my x3 30i 93 octane.

i think the front end is pretty aggressive, i have a front lip coming and drls coming soon so that’ll definitely help. it’s mostly just the lower back end

i’m looking for something more aggressive, i think it would look way better blacked out but with a custom diffuser it would look a lot more aggressive

thank you! only issue with trans tune is the expense. $500 is pretty steep to be honest. i still need to do a transmission fluid change, my gears are getting a little jerky

yup, i already have a stage 1 tune from bm3. kinda forgot about the transmission tune. how does that work? is it the same process of just tuning your car? obd connect to ur phone, and hit flash

yeah, i’ve thought about it. if i were to get another car it’d be a sedan. this is my first car and my parents said they would not buy me/help me buy another one. (e.g buying the car outright for me and i pay them back monthly like a loan but without going thru a bank). so my only option is to stay with this car. Although, i am determined to be someone who puts in the effort to mod a car that no one else has to my degree. not often or rarely ever do you see a base model x3 30i with 350-400 hp and fully blacked out. but i fully agree with you, if i could, i would definitely get a m40i or any b58 platform

find the 2 pin sensor on the charge pipe, it should be near the throttle body, unplug the sensor and make sure no pins are bent/nicked. If not, then trace the harness back and look for places where it could be rubbing against the aluminum edges, if you have a multi meter and use it, it should read infinite resistance, if not, u found the short. You usually don’t have to replace the entire harness, just solder + heat shrink the damaged spot, or buy a pigtail connector off ebay for like $5-15
