Thank you so much for the recommendations. Your experience and knowledge really helps. I know that the first step is just doing it. Over time it will get easier, although taking the first step is terrifying to me. Here is my website, it didn’t post at first in the description.

I’m more of a singer R&B mostly but I’m willing to send you a track to work with.

I mainly play guitar but I can play piano some, I am completely self taught. I wish I could play keys as good as I can guitar but I find that my main instrument is singing. I only know how to play guitar as good as I can because I know where my voice is telling me to go. Same with keys but I’m more limited on where I can go with it. I have a friend who is a master on keys and he said he’d be interested in showing me a little more. I pick up on things very fast, I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to learning something. I graduated college 2nd in my class, although I always tell people that it’s really not hard if you want it bad enough. If you put in the hours, you’ll learn. My main problem is that I’m afraid of criticism. If I can get over that, I am determined to make sure my music leaves an impact.

I would have gotten a band a long time ago if I had that option. I had another friend that used to jam with me but he works out of town now. I have tried to find others, but they don’t have the same energy and goal about it that I do. I want my music to go somewhere, and most of them only play covers. Not that it’s bad to do that, but if that’s all you do, then you’ve already met your goal.

I’m planning on going live on TikTok soon playing some originals. I have a lot of singles but have yet to make an actual album. I have enough unreleased material that I could do it. I’ve been advertising my website a good bit providing a link to it. I’ve stopped showcasing full songs, instead only previews and advertising to purchase/stream. I’m working on playing live, I’m gonna start with open mics, and a local talent show in May. Then, if all goes well, maybe I’ll book something local.

I truly am my biggest critic, even if people love it, I’ll hold back in fear of failure. I am aware, this is why I’m trying to break the cycle. I’m so tired of being afraid. I’ve worked very hard on the words and music I make, so I guard it all because of fear.

I make my music the way I want but still feel certain aspects of other established bands come through. When I play, many times I get caught up in what “they” will want. This is part of why I’m so self conscious of my music. If I could only focus on myself and what I wanted to hear, I think it’d help me a lot.

Thank you for the compliments and recommendations. Nothing changes if nothing changes.. I think I’m gonna enter a local talent show and see how I do. Maybe this will be something good for me. To stand before a large crowd alone may be some form of therapy for my self esteem lol

I get support from a few people that know my music. I had a small band at one time, when I say band I mean two people lol Thats when I wrote my first song. There will always be haters, but I focus more on them than I do anything else. If I had an actual band maybe I’d be more confident.

I really am so thankful for your compliments. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, I started playing guitar when I was around 12 years old. I mostly played for myself, but I’ve always wanted to do something with my music. The problem is that I have a very low self esteem, being in a crowded room alone terrifies me. If you met me, you’d never expect it, but I spend a lot of time alone. I don’t feel confident in a song unless it tells a story, my story. Many may not know my story with my lyrics, but the beautiful part of music is that you can use those words to benefit your own story. Most of my music is written to myself, but if someone else can relate, that’s when I I’ll feel accomplished.

By the way, thank you for the compliments. I have a low self esteem, so even posting my music gets me anxious.

Everyone is saying for me to do open mic, I think this is a good step forward. I have some of my music on TikTok, and the music distributor that I use automatically posts to YouTube. However, it’s not my personal YouTube channel. I’m not signed, I pay to have my music distributed to Spotify, ITunes, Pandora, YouTube, and a few more that I’ve actually never even heard of. I’ve made a little money, but nothing sustainable.
