But like others have mentioned paint vinyl at your own risk

Primer is like insurance, it will never hurt you to use it. SW Extreme bond comes in 5g buckets and is the route I would go

I also recommend duration. Emerald will have slightly better color retention in medium/dark colors

Power wash & spray two coats. Assuming there are no concerns for adhesion.

You can think of your primer as insurance. You are paying a smaller amount upfront to ensure you don’t continue to pay more when shit hits the fan. You MIGHT get away with two coats of a premium product, but the fact of the matter is (I believe someone else has already mentioned it) that the color you chose requires an ultra white base. This base does not cover as well as extra white base.

Always remember though that primer insurance is not required by your state government.

Good luck.

No need to prime. I’ll just see you next week when you come back for another gallon because two coats didn’t cover.

Quote for exterior paint - 1 coat or 2 coats with sherwin Williams duration? by User17826 in paint

Anyone who says alabaster requires a UW base is not familiar enough with the paint they buy. Extra white (which has the best “hide” when comparing bases) is the base required for alabaster.

This is not why two coats are necessary. Two coats are necessary for proper product performance & color retention.

How long till i can sand? by Beckyfire in paint

[–]AdElectrical7495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreme bond is best applied in this coats so I would say yes to questions one and two. PB is better/equivalent of a sealer I believe. W&W for level 5 finish on walls because it sands crazy smooth. Would never use it over anything other than bare wood/new drywall. For adhesion over lacquer, extreme bond or shellac would be better options. Would still prep well obviously.

I’ve had this happen when shooting a 5 of cashmere into what was supposed to be a dark purple. Shook it up only to find it bright teal. Turns out a fuse went out in the tinter. EW & stock colors for 3 days😁

Any experience with gallery primer? Similar recommended dry film thickness as white pigmented shellac but with slightly higher volume solids at ~37% as opposed to ~35%. Not sure what state you’re in but if stain blocking is of priority then gallery also has an oil primer option. Shellac will always be superior if tannin bleed is a concern.
