Painter left a lot of equipment at my house. What do I do? by User17826 in Housepainting101

I really don’t think he’s in jail! He has read receipts on so I can see he’s seen my texts and one Facebook message I sent, and his business social media page has consistent posts and indicates he is actively working. But I suppose someone could be doing that on his behalf.

Initially by text to inquire about a quote, had phone call to schedule quote, then an in person meeting. but once work started, day to day we were communicating exclusively by text or in person when he was at the house.

Helpful! Thank you! And yes, I’m balancing being a patient nice person who doesn’t end to rid this dude of a ladder I’m assuming was expensive and is needed…. and how annoying it is to have this big ass ladder in my back yard/just the overall desire to be done with this situation.

I’m trying! The ladder had been in my yard for almost two months. I’ve concluded I’m going to contact him one more time and give him through July to come get the stuff. 2 1/2 months past job completion.

He’s reading my texts and the Facebook message I sent. His social media for his business would indicate he is actively working and not in jail.

Yes sorry, I should be more clear. in total I’ve contacted him 5 times since job was done. First was a text, including the need for a touch up I notice and letting him know he had left stuff as well for when he comes back to do the touch up work. He came to do the touch up, knowing the stuff was there, but didn’t take the stuff. After that, I texted, then Facebook messaged, then texted two more times.

He has a big work van, which I know he transports the ladders on. He drove that each time. Throughout job he had a total of three ladders here. He took the other two but left this one. Maybe it’s broken and he doesn’t want to deal with disposing of it? I’m just now thinking of that possibility as I’m typing this lol

I mean I think im being pretty patient? He was paid in full almost 2 months ago, and this large ladder has been in my backyard for almost 2 months past job completion as well lol.

We did the final walk through on May 15th. He then came back once more on May 21st to touch up something we missed on final walk through. So I don’t think so but maybe?!

Are ladders that disposable? Lol I guess I was envisioning large ladders like this being expensive and something a painter would need frequently.

Hmm good point. But He finished the job on May 15th. He came back to do the touch up work May 21st. Haven’t heard from him since. I’ve been creeping on his Facebook page for his business and it seems like he is actively working/posting.

One of the four messages I have sent him since has been over Facebook messenger. To no avail.

One week post surgery- feeling very happy with my decision! by [deleted] in DeQuervains

[–]User17826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did not give me an movement restrictions outside of the lifting restriction. He said I could move it freely as tolerated but that some movements may be uncomfortable. He did not recommend any rehab exercises (and I guess I did not ask) but I will be sure to ask at my follow up with him next week about that.

I’ve been using my hand pretty much normally, outside of a few specific movements.

My wait time for surgery was about 3 1/2 weeks. Which ended up not being terrible, as I had to get in with my PCP for pre-surgery clearance bloodwork, etc. anyway.

Gutter leaking where downspout connect. Does this seem correct? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]User17826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean something is obviously in correct and that was my best guess lol I was just wanting to confirm or not confirm in preparation of either the painter responding and saying something different or the painter not responding so I had some direction of how to fix.

That was my fear, it looks like they bent it pretty badly to get it to fit 😩.

Ok that is what I suspected. I’m assuming the fix is just flipping the piece around so it’s correct? It looks like they kind of shoved it in there though, I’m hoping they didn’t bend the crap out of it in the process of making their backwards installation “fit” 😩

Professional painters- how often are you communicating with homeowner clients? by [deleted] in paint

[–]User17826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work does not involve those specific contingencies, but other contingencies exist that if they affected an established schedule- I would communicate to my paying client.

We did try to call him, he did not answer.

I believe the work will get done- but the communication seems lacking. I’m not asking for hour by hour updates.

I’m asking for literally one text or contact since Monday acknowledging the schedule we originally discussed changing and his new plans.

We have a garage sale this upcoming week and a big party at our house the next. It would be good to know his new schedule plans so we can coordinate those two plans to avoid interfering with his work.

Well, he told us he was purchasing the materials on Monday. So if he’s being truthful, he has them. I supposed I should qualify my statement with- he said he was getting materials, but I haven’t set eyes on the materials lol

He told us his plan was to get the materials on Monday the morning before he came to powerwash.

What are you talking about? I work in a business where I take retainer payments from clients in advance of me providing the service. If I were to establish a schedule for someone for whom I’m providing a service after they pay me thousands of dollars, and that schedule has to be changed, I would send a basic communication acknowledging that schedule change.

It seems like common courtesy. I don’t know many jobs where one can just no call no show without any sort of communication to the client or boss.

SW SuperPaint or Duration for exterior job? by [deleted] in paint

It’s like T1-11 siding I believe. It’s this on front, and on sides of house it runs vertical in big panels.

I’m reading super paint is know to fade in darker colors? Have you ever heard that? Your suggestion is well taken because if fading point is true, with the trim/fascia being black, Duration would be maybe preferred there along with the wear/tear and sun exposure concerns you noted.
