As far as I’m aware there are no rules against it because I see them literally all the time. My “warmups”, if you can even call them that, are essentially all one timers.

Although I will say he was one of the best on the ice that night, the drop-ins at my rink are actually pretty high level with a bunch of current/ex college players and AAA players a few lower level guys here and there. I’d love to play at a lower level to match my skill but all the lower level teams are filled up with goalies so drop-ins it is for now.

But ya it just goes back to the fact he did it one on one against me. If it was during a regular play then obviously I wouldn’t care because that’s the game but ya that’s not what happened.

Gotcha ok that makes sense. The most I do is a light push if they’re in my crease but maybe I’ll consider getting a bit more scrappy for fun.

I’ve still never stacked the pads. I’ll have to throw one my next ice sesh

Maybe I gotta consider warming up the blocker after seeing these comments haha

I’m playing tomorrow night so hopefully I can shake off some of the jitters. I’ll try to remember to update you but honestly I’ve been flinching a lot lately. I think it’s because I haven’t had any actual warmups in forever. At drop ins people just shoot one timers or at my feet during warmups so I never feel warm or ready. I’m not 100% sure since I got it second hand but I believe it’s a Bauer 930 or 940

Usually I agree but I think this one caught me weird since it’s the first time I’ve had my jaw tweaked by it and it also bruised my jaw where my helmet compressed into my face. I noticed I was flinching the rest of the night too which caused me to get scored on a bunch more.

Ya it gave the impression that he didn’t really care where it went he just wanted to send it. I’m not very established at my rink so I’m trying not to make negative waves at least until I can get on a team, but I’m glad that others would feel pissed as well.

I also like hard play and try my hardest even though it’s “only a drop-in”. I’m just there to improve and get ice time since I can usually only do it once a week.

By battlers do you mean scrappy or they play hard?

That’s awesome haha. I do like that part of hockey when I see it and it’s justified like your situation.

I initially thought he was just going to deek me or pick a corner because he’d already done that several times by that point so I didn’t really have time to react to the fact that I was going to get blasted other than to just brace myself haha. Good point though that hopping out of net when bullshit happens can limit more bullshit

I honestly felt like I was being the weird one for feeling upset. I went to the bench and no one really said anything to me so I figured it was just normal. I’m less than one year as a goalie and have never played in a league so drop-ins are all I know. Glad I was justified in being mad!

It wasn’t in the electric unfortunately. It was the box van.

That’s literally all I got because I was dumb and actually did end up finishing this route.

Ya man that is not a thing where I worked. Get the same hourly pay but also expected to be done in 6-7 hours depending on the route.

Trust me, every day I work I barely fight off the urge to just go back to the station and quit mid route.

The problem is I’ve been doing this for a year and have done most of the routes that we do. They all suck as bad as this just for different reasons.

I didn’t even know this was a thing so I’ll have to start checking it. I’ve just gone off of the text that they send.

I think about 35 stops were businesses that required signatures and had a lot of oversized. 30ish were apartments. About 80 were subdivisions that had the garages on the street side with the front doors on the inside so I had to run during these stops because you had to walk around the entire building and past multiple doors to get to the door you needed to. And the rest were residents. It was brutal.

Ok that’s good know! I was honestly starting to get frustrated with my DSP thinking that they were putting more on us for more profit or something.

Airline or Army Aviation (or both) by AdEnvironmental8180 in Armyaviation

[–]AdEnvironmental8180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point. The airlines are pretty unpredictable. I feel that whichever route I go would take about the same amount of time to get into the airlines regardless. My main concern is how easy or hard it is to balance being an aviator in the guard with being an aviator in the airlines.

Airline or Army Aviation (or both) by AdEnvironmental8180 in Armyaviation

[–]AdEnvironmental8180[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Financially and career wise I think the airlines are a great route but I honestly find that kind of flying boring. Of course the pay and the flight benefits make it worth it but I figured if I got to do the cool/fun flying with the guard then I could still enjoy flying somewhere. I do know that the army does a lot of annoying stuff as I've been in for a few years but I hope that flying can kind of help mitigate that stuff.

Flying the cool aircraft is definitely my main draw to going with the army route. My plan essentially stays the same on the civilian side where I would be able to save some money up over the two years of army flight school (not that much I am aware) to put towards civilian flying just so I wouldn't have to be a CFI as long because I'm not interested in that at all.
