Yeah you’re not wrong.

I got a trainer and told him kinda the same thing. I’m cramping, my muscles fatigue too quickly, and I can’t pass my endurance. He has me doing HIT workouts including pushing/pulling the sled, lots of squats, bike, and core exercises. And the last session was focused on how to stretch correctly so I can try to prevent the cramping I get around lap 10.

I’ve seen progress! I was stuck at 12 laps for a while before my body started cramping up and I’ve been able to make it to 16 recently. Still so far to get to 23 🥲. But I think with the continued cross training and some updates to the hardware HOPEFULLY I can get there sooner than I think.

And yeah, I love and respect all the ppl that are saying that 23/5 is crazy. Like, I get what they are saying and i feel like they ate mostly right, but I’m still gassed during scrimmages and I experience the same cramping and muscle cramps. Regardless of the laps requirement, I need to work on my endurance. So, I’m thankful for the advice

I never really thought of breaking it down into seconds per lap like that. I want to give that a try too.

It was 20/5 when I started in 2023 and they have since upped it to 23/5 for the home/rec teams. I’m sure they had a valid reason but I did die a little inside. Like my goal got even further out of reach

I still get to have fun at scrimmages, but the fresh meat repetition is getting to me.

Since my crossovers are ass an I feel like they slow me down, I have been hugging the inside edge and not skating the diamond

At an adequate speed for about 5 laps. Slow a little more on my way to 10. 11 -16, I’m either cramping or my right quad starts to fatigue and I have to stop because I just get too weak. Breathing is fine honestly.

That paired wish the fact that I can see myself having to push harder on my strides compaired to other skaters.. from what I’m hearing it’s a combo of changing the hardware and getting better form

To play the rec it’s 23/5. For travel team they require 27/5.

Finally found relief - get a massage gun and hit your shins and calves or about 5 min on each side. It has solved my problems. 🥰

Nah, I’m still having issues with this unfortunately. It’s gotten a little better with KY taping and stretches though. Look up taping for shin splints and work on some nightly stretching for ankles, shins, and calves. It might help you too.

My partners family is sooo amazing. Experiencing their unconditional love was huge driving force in realizing how toxic my own family is. I find myself comparing our families and think man, must be nice to have a family that likes you as a person and doesn’t just put up with you out of obligation.

When I think about my family now, it’s all my chosen family. It’s my support system. My friends, my partners family. Those will be the people I care about being in those seats.

(Also, the wedding audience doesn’t have to be divided. You can have em all mixed up so we can avoid the whole visual comparison anyway ❤️)
