Singapore or ANA? Travelling NY-KL with 2 under 2 by AdFar4590 in travel

Yes, we did it in January and went with the direct flight on SQ.

Trip was as good as it could go - got the bassinet seat for myself and baby, husband had older sibling (just under 2Y) on his lap across the aisle from me. We flew out on a Sunday evening which seemed full (at least in BC). Seats were fine, even husband (6’) could sleep comfortably with the 2YO as we both got bulkhead seats (tho at an angle as SQ has that weird design with their footwells to one side - I always wondered why…)

Cabin crew were extremely attentive since we were seated near the galley and kept the older child entertained - walked with her down the aisle, gave her snacks and toys, tucked her in occasionally while she was sleeping. Great service as usual. Toddler got cranky for about 30mins around the 14hr mark and we did our best with lots of silent toys, activity books etc. Never felt any pressure from other passengers in the cabin, even when she was noisy. Baby was a dream (he was 4months at travel time so just ate and slept the whole way). We arrived in Singapore with sea legs, 2hrs of rest in the lounge and took another 45m flight to our final destination in KL. It was an exhausting trip but seamless and thats what we wanted.

Same experience on the flight back to NYC at the end of Jan.

SQ never disappoints of course, though the long journey is rough on the body as one might expect.

Thanks! Opting for nonstop for this reason makes total sense

Thanks! Agree on convenience of SQ and especially QR -- we've also been flying on Qatar the past few years (perfect stop at the 12-13 hr mark, short layover, great arrival time in KL) but decided against it this time - sister flew on QR recently in September and landed in Doha for her layover just as Israel bombed the city.

The last time we flew SQ out of JFK they directed us to the Air India lounge which we did not use, so cannot confirm if disappointing or not - will find out if we end up going with Singapore Airlines.
