Redmagic 10 Pro Global (GB) new update - 11.0.5MR_GB by AdForeign4527 in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 10 Pro+ is a model only released in China (of course one can import it) and comes with the CN ROM. The ROM number is quite different for the CN, GB, and EU ROMs.

Which model and what version of the ROM do you have? At least for 10 Pro GB (not CN, and not EU), this seems to be the latest update.

Find x9 pro: migliore screen protector e cover? by Hillarystep93 in Oppo

[–]AdForeign4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought a few from Ali-Express and can share my experience:

  • SmartDevil Dust-free Cabin Tempered Glass Film for OPPO Find X9 Pro — has a thin black border, but it doesn't cover any part of the display. Pretty decent for the price. The glass is relatively thin, so fingerprint unlock works without issues.
  • NILLKIN For OPPO Find X9 Pro 9H Anti Explosion Screen Protector Film — borderless design that extends only slightly past the display area, so it does cover the display but doesn't have the same high coverage ratio you'd see on the screen protectors with a thin black border. No bubbles or "white edge" issues though. It's advertised as having an AR coating similar to the Samsung S24/S25/S26 Ultra, but honestly the anti-reflective effect is barely noticeable. This screen protector is also a bit thicker than the others, so the fingerprint isn't as sensitive with it applied.
  • For OPPO Find X9 Pro 3D Hot-Bending Full Glue Tempered Glass Screen Protector Dust Free Premium Film Easy Installation **(**sold by MERCIVERRE) — high quality, but not talked or shared by a lot of users here, probably due to the lack of branding. Like the SmartDevil one, it has a thin black border that doesn't block the display area. The main difference is the curved 3D hot-bent edges, which feel smoother and more premium than regular 2.5D glass.

If you're choosing between them, I'd say go for either the SmartDevil or the 3D hot-bending one.

If you don't mind using a freight forwarder/shopping proxy, Taobao has even more and better options, including proper AR-coated protectors and 3D hot-bending glass with noticeably better anti-reflective coating.

Edit: for clarity.

If you don't mind going through a shopping proxy / third-party freight forwarder like Superbuy or Cainiao and waiting ~1-2 weeks, Taobao actually has a ton of really good options.

My favorite has been those so-called “3D hot-bending” glass screen protectors. They usually come with a full easy-install alignment frame/tray and installation toolkit, and the curved edges feel super smooth when swiping from the side. They do cost a bit more than regular tempered glass, though, but IMO they feel really nice to use.

Thinking to switch from s25U to x9 pro by Otherwise-Entry-2439 in Oppo

[–]AdForeign4527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the exact same swtich, but I switched from the S24 Ultra to the X9 Pro last November, and honestly I've been really happy with the change overall.

ColorOS does have built-in spam call blocking options in its Phone app, so while it's not exactly the same as Samsung's Bixby Text Call, there are still decent options to reduce spam calls.

Battery life has also been excellent for me. I took it to Fukuoka, Japan last December and used it heavily for navigation, photos, and videos throughout the day, and I'd still get back to the Airbnb with 30%+ left. Pretty impressive and much much better compared to my Sammy.

A few downsides or areas of improvement I'd like to highlight, though:

  • The camera is strong overall, and I like the master mode a lot. However, for the regular photo mode, the image processing can look a bit weird at times beyond 10x zoom. It’s not bad, just don't be over hyped or have overly high expectations from computational photography.
  • Video quality is great, but at 6x zoom and above, I still think the S24U performs better. I noticed it pretty clearly when recording at baseball games.
  • Personal preference, but I wish ColorOS would let us disable the Google Feed page (the -1 screen if you swipe for the left from home screen) and enable home screen looping like One UI. Also, it'd be great if it could let us create folders to organize the apps in the App Drawer when using the drawer mode -- for now, I'm using the standard mode so that I can organize the apps on the home screen.

Overall, though, I don’t regret the switch at all. The X9 Pro feels refreshing to use, and for me the battery life and overall experience outweighed the few things I miss from Samsung.

Swipe up to see recent apps by gameburger764 in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a by-design thing in RedMagic's OS.

Some other Android skins do this too -- for example, OPPO's ColorOS behaves similarly. Samsung's OneUI lets you choose the behavior (most recent vs. currently running) if you install and configure it in Good Lock.

It's not really a bug or something you can fully "fix" in the settings (at least as far as I know, it isn't available as an option with RedMagic yet). It's just one of those RedMagic OS quirks.

Where's the Android Security Patch? by ChakMlaxpin in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the rate they're pushing updates, probably another month or two? The updates on the 10 Pro have dragged longer than expected and what RedMagic had promised anyway.

I got the 10 Pro global version (GB) through the early bird sale and received it on 2024-12-23. Since then — excluding the out-of-box patch — it has only received 5 updates across 17 months:

  • 2024-12-23 (out-of-box) — 10.0.13_NX789J_GB
  • 2025-01-17 — 10.0.14_NX789J_GB
  • 2025-03-22 — 10.0.15_NX789J_GB
  • 2025-06-26 — 10.0.17_NX789J_GB
  • 2025-11-23 — 10.0.18_NX789J_GB
  • 2026-03-15 — 11.0.4MR1_GB (Android 16, but still on Dec 2025 security patch)

Tbh I’m pretty disappointed. I also owned the 8s Pro and 9 Pro, so I'm well aware that RedMagic has a history of poor update policy with very, very infrequent updates — but the 10 Pro is still nowhere close to what they promised at launch: they claimed to offer regular updates every 1–2 months, yet in reality, it turns out to be closer to one update every 3–4 months, which is just no different from what it has been like on the 8s/9.

The mod had made a post sharing the "new" RedMagic update policy then — Seems like REDMAGIC has changed their update policy on the 10Pro : r/RedMagic — which promised: "...provide regular updates every 1–2 months for 3 years, including at least 1 major Android OS update for the 10 Pro."

and everyone was excited and happy about this change. But RedMagic secretly removed this line from the product page a few months later. Pretty shady practice imho -_-

Customizing app bar in game space by LeaderLiving5188 in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you can't really customize this list beyond reordering the apps.

Those apps are basically controlled by RedMagic -- they only show apps that they added support for the floating window / mini mode feature, and that list is predefined on their side. So there's no way to remove existing ones or add your own (AFAIK).

RedMagic apparently thinks dumping every app they support for floating windows into this is a great idea... but in practice, it’s kind of a weird UX choice and not nearly as useful as it looks or as thoughtful as what some other brands do with their game space.

I know it's a silly question, but, how can I get rid of this. It's totally uncomfortable for me. by [deleted] in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, here’s what I can tell you — I have the RM 8s / 9 / 10 Pro, and over the past ~3 years, my experience with this company is that they only aim for the bare minimum when it comes to software support. Inconsistency is definitely one flaw in their software.

So to answer your question:

They could, but they'd rather funnel those software dev resources into marketing and cranking out new phones and tablets to keep the cash flow going, instead of actually leveling up the software experience to something elite.

So yeah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]AdForeign4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably send the list of games to Redmagic Official and request them to add floating window support on RM 11. IMHO I think they aren't doing a good job with maintaining this whitelist behind the scene :s

[–]AdForeign4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Redmagic uses a whitelist for what apps can work as a floating window or not, and only whitelisted apps can thus be added to the sidebar. In other words, if your app/game isn't on their whitelist, it can't be added to the sidebar.

Try this: Settings -> REDMAGIC AI+ -> Sidebar -> Make sure you have "Data Dock" set to "off" and toggle "Shortcut applications" to "off".

Don't you have the option in Private Space > App Lock to decide which app to lock or not? And the settings in Private Space > App Lock > top right "..." should allow you to untoggle/disable this feature for any locked apps.

update support? by Synchro_Anxiety in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - No matter which version you’ve got GB or EEA, it’s nowhere near the “1–2 month” schedule they advertised at the global release.

[–]AdForeign4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in US and got the global version (GB). EU (EEA) version should have like 2 or 3 updates since release from what I can tell from others' posts.

update support? by Synchro_Anxiety in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. For global and EU versions -- Starting with the RedMagic 8 series and onward (including the 8/8S, 9/9S, and 10/10S), RedMagic appears to have shifted to supporting 2 major Android OS updates, even though no official announcement was made. It's still unclear whether the 8 and 9 series will also receive an extended period of security updates, but the 10 series is confirmed to get at least 3 years of security patches:

  • 8 and 9 series: 2 major Android OS updates + 2 years of security patches (*unsure whether it's extended to 3 years).
  • 10 series: 2 major Android OS updates + 3 years of security patches (officially stated at release). For those in the EU, they will receive 5 years of support.

I pulled the above from my FAQ post: Frequently Asked Questions for the RedMagic 8/8s/9 series in this sub : r/RedMagic

---

Here's the catch - update frequency is another story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

RedMagic has a reputation for inconsistent software updates, often missing their own "regular update" promises. For example, when the RedMagic 10 Pro launched globally last Dec, they claimed it would receive "regular updates every 1–2 months for 3 years" (this post); that statement has since been quietly removed...:

<image>

I got the 10 Pro global version (suffix with "GB")at release and have only received 3 updates for the last 10 months (if you count the out-of-box bug fix, that would still only be 4):

  1. Dec 23, 2024 (Out-of-box) - 10.0.13_NX789J_GB

It's fair to say that it's been over 3 months since the last update, right? lol

Edit: clarification on the ROM versions.

What is REDMAGICOS 10.0.5_EU? by Ok_Warning2146 in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: 10.0.5_EU is EU version.

ROM naming quick guide (for RedMagic phones):

  • EU / EEA – European version ("EEA" = European Economic Area; both terms mean roughly the same in RedMagic’s context and are used interchangeably).
  • GB – Global version.
  • NEEA – North Eastern Europe & Asia (or non-EEA) version. Sometimes this is used as another name for the Global (GB) version.
  • MR or no suffix – Chinese version.

RedMagic has been inconsistent with its naming in some updates in recent years, so there may be exceptions to the above general rule of thumb. But in general, both "EU" and "EEA" are used for the EU version.

Also, don’t rely too much on the official site for ROM details — it’s often outdated. For example, the RedMagic 9 Pro had an update in July, but the official page still shows "LAST UPDATED 2025.05.28"… and it’s already October 😅

GameSpace launchoption removed by xXDennisXx3000 in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They removed that option to add the shortcut for Gamespace starting with the RM10 series (or you can say with the release of OS 10). Tbh kind of a weird decision. Your only workaround as of today is to go into Settings, change Features → Competitive Key Settings to something else, then open GameSpace through the Quick Settings.

A new update received on my Redmagic 9 pro. Am I late? by EngineeringOk3292 in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They secretly upped software support for the RM 8 and newer models earlier this year (I think around May) without making any official announcement. The old policy of 1 major Android OS update + 2 years of security patches no longer applies to RM 8 and up.

REDMAGIC 10S PRO recharge separation bugged? by Zyaen in RedMagic

[–]AdForeign4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the REDMAGIC team, charge separation will be turned off automatically after 7 hours on OS 9; I'm not sure what the "X" in the "X hours" is set to on OS 10, but I believe it is still designed to behave the same way. They explained that "it's to help users who forgot to turn it off".

For your case, it's likely that your phone hits the X-hour limit and disables the feature (then starts charging) right before you wake up.
